Sorry, but the only alternatives we had, one has dropped out and one just showed he can’t get 20% of the republicans to support him even when he really tries.

I’m stuck with Romney. I could go with McCain, pretending the polls are correct and she could win, and hoping he doesn’t do anything like what he’s done in the last 8 years, or decide to “pay us conservatives” back for whatever perceived slight he detects against us.

Or I could go with Rudy, figuring that the general population won’t be confused when us pro-lifers all tell them that, contrary to what we’ve said for years, they should actually vote for a pro-abortion person.

Or I could try Huckabee, proving to the general population that I really don’t care at all about the war on terror, or immigration, or fiscal conservatism.

Nope, of the candidates that could be our nominee, Romney is the man who is running on the true conservative platform. I supported Fred Thompson, in the hopes we could have a less “risky” conservative, but he failed to care whether people voted for him (I don’t mean to be harsh, but Fred himself said that there were other candidates for people to vote for if they didn’t like his way of doing things).

I collected signatures for Virginia for Fred, but I don’t think he will be viable when he gets here.

I even sent money to Hunter, but he never caught on. And that wasn’t my fault — one supporter or even one voter isn’t what’s needed, it’s one candidate who can make the people vote for him.

I haven’t voted yet. I NEVER before tonight EVER suggested anybody should switch to Romney. I Never said anybody should NOT vote for Fred Thompson, or for Duncan Hunter.

So it isn’t MY fault that Fred Thompson isn’t leading the race for the republican nomination, nor is it the other few hundred Romney supporters here.

Yes, our major alternatives have performed poorly. But now that my main guy has flopped and dropped out and my second choice is on the ropes, I've decided I've got no dog in this fight anymore. The only ones left are the two I would support, if not happily (Huck or McCain) and the two I will support under no circumstances at all (Flip and Abortiani).

Since I have no passion to argue for Huck or McCain, I'm stuck trying to warn people about the two liberals.

It's not a happy situation, but that's life.
