Rohrabacher, Hunter call for agents' pardon
Wash Times ^ | 1/17/08 | Jerry Seper

Two California Republican congressmen yesterday called on President Bush to pardon two former U.S. Border patrol agents sent to prison a year ago this week for shooting a drug-smuggling suspect in the buttocks as he fled back into Mexico.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher accused Mr. Bush of being "arrogant and heartless" for refusing to pardon or commute the sentences of former agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, who were ordered last January to serve 11- and 12-year prison sentences, respectively.

He said they had spent the past year in solitary confinement "suffering conditions worse than detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

"It has been a year since Border Agents Ramos and Compean entered prison," Mr. Rohrabacher said. "This marks a year of shame for President Bush, who has been fully aware of the details of this blatant miscarriage of justice and chosen to do absolutely nothing about it.

"The president has shown us his arrogant and heartless side by permitting the wrongful incarceration of Ramos and Compean to continue," he said.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, a Republican presidential candidate who in- troduced a still-pending bill last year to pardon the agents, said Congress and the American people have "repeatedly expressed their outrage that such an injustice has been allowed to occur."

"These agents were convicted solely on the testimony of the drug dealer, who has since been indicted on federal drug charges for running drugs into the United States while serving as a federal witness," Mr. Hunter said. "Most disturbingly, he did so with border crossing cards he obtained for his cooperation."

What’s getting “weirder and weirder around here” are those who wave the flag for invaders while denying it for those who put their lives on the line for it.

Sorry to be the buzz killer for your brownshirt party.

What kind of attorney are you anyway? Have anything to do with flashing lights and sirens?

Okay, I checked your "about page". All I can say is...

But seriously, dude, you didn't actually put this on your ABOUT PAGE...

"Putty pleaseee take us for a go-fast boat ride. We don't need life jackets. We have built-in floaties"

Particularly after writing this...

I'm a moderate-conservative Christian Republican who was born and raised in Houston, Texas.

I guess being a Texas Christian has an entirely different meaning than anywhere else.

Next time identify the quote. You took it out of context.

I proudly identify mine:

“Government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem.”

In the case of West Texas govt. - the problem is Sutton and his gang.

I particularly enjoyed this part of your FR ABOUT PAGE, as I'm sure the ladies of FR will as well...

" My ex-wife said it was either her or the boat (she got pissed when I put a new pair of engines in it that cost more than her jewelry). I kept the boat. Trading up to my current live-in girlfriend was substantially less expensive than staying married, she has much less mileage on her than my ex, and she's a helluva lot more fun - smart cookie too. Seemed like a no brainer deal to me. Life's too short to not wake up happy every day. Besides, a women should never stand between a man and his boat, haa."

One small detail is left out: They weren’t convicted for shooting the drug smuggler. They were convicted because of what they did to cover it up.

I own several, as well as several rifles including an Uzi and a Galil .223.

I can tell you this, there is no way I could shoot myself with a .40 caliber Beretta at close range and keep that bullet inside my body.

Is that what you’re sayig OAD did?

“Government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem.”

Except when it’s agents of the Government with badges shooting to kill unarmed fleeing SUSPECTS I don’t like in the back.

Then big government is pretty cool. Right?

“One small detail is left out: They weren’t convicted for shooting the drug smuggler...”

Actually, they were convicted of assault. But not on a drug smuggler as they didn’t know that he was at the time they shot him. They didn’t even know if he was an illegal.

They just shot him because he made them look bad.

“They shot him in the back(side)?”

Not really, they shot him in the left hip.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher accused Mr. Bush of being "arrogant...."

Hm, I think I've heard that word, recently.

Yes, President Bush has been arrogant. Arrogant about Mexico. Arrogant toward Israel, to pressure them to give up their land.

Way to go, our two stalwarts in California.

“It exited the front of him so, six of one, half dozen of the other.”

The bullet did not come out until it was taken out surgically. It was lodged in his right thigh.

It entered from his left hip bone.

“It entered from his left hip bone.”

Where do you get that? I read the entire transcripts and the doctor on the stand said it entered his left buttock, severed his urethra, franctured his pelvis and then entered and lodged in his right thigh.

“One was even quoted saying “It’s sad when the testimony of a drug mule is more believeable than that of the officers.””

I thought you said the jury hardly paid attention to what OAD said?

One more comment regarding a reply of yours a little earlier. The bullet did not bounce off the pelvis. The pelvis is empty area between what most refer to as the hip bone. Someone who testified at the trial referred to the pelvic bone being shattered, I believe he was referring to the left hip bone.

One more thing, don’t even think about going after me. This thread along with your ABOUT PAGE is being sent to my litigation attorney who will be getting off a nice note to your law firm.

Just so you know where we stand, you got divorced over a couple new engines for your boat, what is that like 20k-40k? I got individual artworks hanging in my house worth more than that.

To FReepers reading this thread, I’m not bragging. Funky attorneys need to be put in their place right away or they get jiggy on you. It’s a pre-emptive diffuser.
