I’m sure the NYT would love nothing more than if we nominated Fred Thompson. He was good tonight, but he has no chance in the general.

I thought Fred was FABULOUS tonight.

Specifically- where he mentioned that the Iranian's are "rattling sabers"- he recalled that they earlier had kidnapped British soldiers, with the same intent. He said "they are testing us", and that the most recent event with Iran, might give evidence that the radical factions are now running the military.

IMO- these are the answers of someone who is "engaged" in world events. It shows that Fred has the ability to "think on his feet".

The others gave good responses, but none had the depth of Fred's answer. The word is "Gravitas".

I thought McCain , Gulliani , and Romney, did ok too.

People need to stop "Looking" at all the surface BS, and start "Listening" to what the candidates are saying.

Ask yourselves America:

You wake up in the morning, turn on your TV, and find out there's been another attack on an American city-maybe worse than 9/11:

Who do you want in charge? Who has the best leadership qualities? Who has the best policies to keep the country safe, and prevent another attack? Who has the best ability to deal with the volatile ME situations?

These are some of the questions I'm asking myself.

I keep coming back with the same answer: Fred.

My problem with Mc Cain is that he took away my free speech, not to mention his immigration bill. Lately- he's been saying "the right things". But, who knows what he'd do?. He's demonstrated too many contradictory tendencies IMO.

Rudy is, who Rudy is. He's a moderate who would be strong in the WOT. He doesn't try to hide that he's a moderate. I can respect that- not my first choice though.

I like the Pro-life, religious stand of Huckabee, but, like Mc Cain he's unpredictable, and has shown too many contradictory tendencies.

Romney is more in agreement with my views-my second choice after Fred, (Assuming that Hunter can't get in).

I don't have a problem with his religion, but, I see there are quite a few Christian's who do.

I go back to my WOT questions- Seems that Romney could handle the WOT.

I understand the shallow stuff, but, we have to start focusing on the serious issues, and who would make the best president/leader of the free world.

I've been gunning for Fred since there was a rumor he might run, and I think that he (or anyone except maybe Guiliani) stands a sound game against Miss Clinton... but I still find the general reaction to americanophile ridiculous.

You guys act like he punched one of your kids.

Do you want to end up like DU and spazz out about every possible threat to your sense of political ideal?

As near as I can tell, he didn't insult anybody by his comment, and he is evidently not a leftist, so there is no excuse to do anything besides (a) ignore him (b) make a polite, constructive riposte.

If you can't bring yourself to do that out of a sense of personal dignity, then do it to make a clear presentation to any moderates that might chance to read FR that we conservatives are infinitely nicer than those mean-spirited libs found elsewhere.

Good idea, yes?

Freddie looked good.
I think he can win. I voted by absentee ballot already.

It was really fun watching Fred outshine the RINOs last night. He needs to keep pounding them.

Mr. Thompson’s performance, in which he shook off the laid-back style that has defined his candidacy,

But, the question regarding Thompson's performance, is it sustainable?

Each time Thompson shows a burst of energy, it seems to be only momentary.

He was great in the ABC/Gibson debate (NH). The next night, he should have called in his performace in the FoxNews debate (NH).

Thompson came across stong last evening (SC). Is it sustainable?

Huckabee is on F&F this morning whining about Fred being mean to him last evening.

Huckabee claims the others keep attacking him. Ironically, Huckabee’s claims are, themselves, attacks on his opponents.

My wife was a magna cum laude speech major and now in marketing. She pointed out that the Huckster appears to have been carefully coached by speech coaches, so that his vocal mannerisms and style of delivery closely mimic Ronald Reagan's.

However, she added, he isn't a very good actor, and occasionally the mask slips off and you see the 'real' Huckleberry underneath.

She stayed up 'till midnight watching the analysis and reruns of the debate. *VERY* rare for her to stay up that late.

She also said that Ron Paul looks like someone found him wandering at a bus stop, and he was completely underdressed for the debate.

Cheers! Full Disclosure: GO FRED!

Fred finally makes some news by attacking, and the media covers it. I’ve been saying the lack of coverage is due to lack of newsworthiness. It’s about time, Freddy. He needs to slam McCain and Mitt just as hard, but this is a good start for Fred. Any more debates before the SC vote?

I think Fred hit his stride last night. Everyone has had to acknowledge that he was the clear winner in last night’s debate. He has momentum from this now. Iowa & New Hampshire were flukes.

Thompson & Romney need to knock McCain & Huckabee out, so they can then concentrate on taking Rudy out.

Perhaps the most salient thing that Fred advanced last night was the fact that, while the other candidates have been falling all over themselves to reform themselves, particularly on the illegal aliens issue, he hasn’t changed at all.
What you see is what you get: a conservative.

McCain’s assertion that he will be strong on securing our borders: $100
Mike’s position that he will reduce spending: $150.00
Romney’s opposition to higher taxes: $200
The rhinosaurus in the commercial for the medicine to fight rhino-virus, just after Hannity interviewed Giuliana: Priceless!

He’s absolutely correct - this is a fight for the heart and soul of the party.

Fred is just a vehicle - the only conservative vehicle left in the debates.

After the MSM convinced two liberal states (notice he did well in Wyoming where Republicans voted) to vote for squishes, and after dirty trickters tried to knock him out with rumors in Iowa and now the absurd accusation of helping McCain, South Carolina is the first step where conservatives will actually not be outnumbered by libs in sheeps clothing.

Conservatism makes a stand here, or we’ve just lost control of the party that elected Reagan and defeated the Soviet Empire.

If we have a chance at all in the General election, it is with a real conservative, not a conveniently recovering life-long liberal, a maverick whose pastime is to enable liberals, an unabashed life-long liberal, or a neophyte statist that things Iran is just acting out because we’re the mean jock and their the band geek.

Choosing one of those dem-lites will be a pyrrhic victory when we’ve surrendered control of a national party for electability only to watch them go down in defeat.

Conservatives make a stand here, or forever hold your peace - I gave another $250 to Thompson last Sunday, and I will give more today.

Reward good conservative performances with donations!
