Dear FReepers,
Please pray for my dear friend Heather. She has a rare cancer, and is having surgery in the morning to remove the tumor. Heather was diagnosed in October with stage three leiomyosarcoma, which is an agressive cancer of the smooth muscle. She has undergone radiation and chemotherapy over the last few months in an attempt to shrink the tumor, which is located in hip near her sciatic nerve. Her most recent MRI indicates that the tumor has indeed shrunk, but there is still the possibility that her surgeon may not be able to remove the whole tumor or may have to amputate her leg to do so.
Heather is married and has an eight year old daughter. She is like a sister to me, and is one of the strongest and bravest individuals I have ever known. But she is truly in the fight of her life right now, and she needs our prayers. Please join me tonight as I pray for Heather, her family, and her doctors and nurses during this critical time.
Thank you.
Huntress

I just talked to Heather’s husband. The surgery took much longer than anticipated, but the surgeon thinks he got all of the tumor, which was about the size of a football(!!!). He had to remove a lot of muscle to get the tumor, so Heather may walk with a limp or have to use a cane for the rest of her life. But she still has her leg. She may have to have additional chemotherapy and/or radition, but she won’t know about that until the pathology report is done. The challenge for her right now is just pain control.
Given the circumstances, this was a good outcome for Heather. Thank you so much for your prayers so far. Please continue to pray with me for her full recovery.
Admin Moderator, could you please update the title of this thread to reference this post? Thanks.

Great news!
A limp isn’t a bad alternative considering.
Continuing to pray for Heather.

[Ping to TRussell & Brad's Gramma for the Prayer Warriors Lists - apologies if you have already pinged this to your lists]
Dear Huntress,
Just saw this today, and I wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear that your dear friend is going through this...
Praise the L-rd that they did not have to take her leg, and that her surgery went well all things considered!
I will be saying prayers for Heather -- that the L-rd will wrap her in His comforting and healing embrace, that He will relieve her pain, and bless her with a speedy and complete recovery from the surgery, and from the cancer.
I will be praying for her doctors and caregivers -- for wisdom in deciding on her treatment. I will also be praying that the outcome from the pathology report indicates that she will not have to endure any more chemo or radiation.
And, last but not least, I will be praying for all of Heather's family and friends -- for strength and relief from worry! May G-d bless you all with comfort during this trying time.
Sincerely,
LR
