The question was posed to me last night, if the only two conservatives in the race were to drop out, leaving the hapless RINOs Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee and McCain to ward off the Evil Witch of the East then, Jim, what do we do?
Well, I think four issues that most of us conservatives will agree on that are at the top or near the top of our priority lists are National Defense, Border Security, Guns and Life should be considered. We can argue all day long on whether or not these guys are constitutionally minded, small government fiscal conservatives, and I don't believe any of them are, but we'll leave that for another day. Let's concentrate on National Defense, Border Security, Guns and Life.
Well, I can see right off that that rules out Rudy, the draft dodging, gun grabbing, sanctuary city abortionist. At least the other three claim to be pro-life, although Romney has been a pro-choice abortionist for all of his elected history until he decided to run for president. I think Romney's pro choice, big government nanny state (RomneyCare) record gives him two big black eyes and should knock him out of any further consideration. That leaves Huckabee and McCain.
Now, all four of these guys are terrible on border security even though they're all claiming now to be border hawks. McCain led the charge for amnesty and the rest fell in line like dutiful RINO troopers. Can't really make a distinction among these guys on the border issue. All fail, though I think most conservatives would rank McCain at or near the bottom.
Guns. Rudy's definitely out. McCain's out. Romney's not much better. Guess Huckabee the big duck hunter outshoots the others in this category.
Rudy fails in all categories, McCain and Romney fail on guns, and all fail on borders. So I guess Huckabee has more to offer over the others at this point as he is at least pro-life and pro-gun.
Now comes national defense. Sorry, but I can't see the draft dodging, gun grabbing, gay loving, cross-dressing, illegal alien pandering abortion activist Rudy Giuliani as a very appealing or effective guy to head up our military, even if he did make some rousing anti-terrorist speeches on 9/11. The "gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military" Romney (no military or national security experience that I know of) doesn't give me goosebumps either.
So, again, we're down to Huckabee and McCain. Now you all know that I like Huckabee as he is a likable fellow, and I hate McCain, but wait. If the whole shebang is going to be decided on which of the still standing Republican wannabes should defend America from the terrorists and the surrendering Democrats, I think I'll have to go with McCain over Huckabee. At least McCain served in the military and has a whole lot more military and national security experience while serving on various committees in the senate than does Huckabee. Huckabee has none. And I doubt Huckabee can defeat Hillary. But then, McCain probably won't either, so guess that leaves plan B. Squat down, tuck your head down between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.
Here's praying that the only two all around consistently reliable conservatives hang in there and one of them gets the nod.
Go Hunter!! Go, FRed, GO!!
If the GOP loses the election of 2008 which I doubt, the Demonrats can pay the price for the surrender policy and the GOP will castrate the Demonrats in 2010 as we did in 1994. The GOP can probably prevent Demonrat babykilling and faggot-coddling SCOTUS nominations for two years. That's the worst case scenario. More likely, we win the election as we win the war (which is now the reality on the ground).
Your proposal to stop bothering the poor Muzzies and to leave them alone and to (essentially) surrender to them does absolutely nothing. Quelle surprise! You support the candidate who proposes to do absolutely nothing about just about everything on his flimsy excuse of faux "constitutionalism."
BTW, my generation killed the draft and freed the military from having to depend on leftist wussies or paleowussies involuntarily grumbling their self-centered whiny way through two years of service. Who needs such trash polluting the military??? Heinlein was a libertarian but he understood this very well.
The draft ain't coming back. We may have to really pay soldiers well and we should pay them well enough in many ways to avoid the use of National Guard and Reserves in wars. Many of those guys are getting long in the tooth and cannot economically afford to serve in the middle of their economic lives when they have mortgages and businesses. Send the young and pay them whatever it takes in pay, perks and education and tax preferences or whatever. We also need to recognize the military as our nation's genuine heroes and contrast that by despising the wimpy antiwar, antimilitary, antiAmerican traitors of ALL political persuasions and crushing with unrestrained vengeance their weasely political mouthpieces like Dr. Demento.
Renewable energy and other alternative sources need no gummint subsidies when they become cheaper than imported oil which is what you suggested was the future course of oil prices. Early personal computers were very expensive. Once the technology was established, the product got better and better and cheaper and cheaper year after year after..... Paul will do nothing because he wants to do nothing and because he won't be in office to do anything. He is roadkill as he ought to be.
No shield necessary for Israel because of prevailing winds that will carry (if need be) Islamofasciststan's nuked remains eastward and away from Israel.
As to buying a frickin' clue, wasn't that you who first supported Julie Annie and now supports Dr. Demento???
Guiliani - bad McCain - a disgrace Huckabee - oh boy dont get me started
Thompson and Hunter - campaigns are going nowhere fast
Although Romney isnt perfect he is definitely the best of the pack. I think conservatives need to start getting behind Romney - at least the party would be intact..If McCain or Guiliani or Huckabee gets control the GOP will be lost in the wilderness.
Thompson has a strategy which did not attempt to win in NH or in Michigan, two states where Independents or even Democrats are in position to throw significant support to John McCain. The Democratic primary is moot because the DNC will not seat any delegates won there because they moved their primary too early. So the Democratic primary voters, under the wierd MI open primary system, have the ability to vote in the Republican primary - and nothing to gain by voting in their own primary. Romney has set himself up to need a win in Michigan - under circumstances where Ronald Reagan himself might not have been able to beat John McCain in Michigan. So I wouldn't be giving up on Thompson just yet; Guiliani hasn't won anything yet and may lose ground.
This thing looks to me like it actually could come down to a multiballot convention.
As many as necessary and as many as necessary in the future. Minigummint is a false god, desirable but hardly a necessity compared to slaughter of the Islamofascisti, national defense, rebuilding the military, RTKBA, an end to abortion and suppression of sexual perversion as an acceptable “lifestyle.” If you want to cut gummint, start by eliminating gummint skewels, particularly grammer skewels, middle skewels and secondary skewels. Then, we can worry about the rest after we accomplish the more important goals listed above.
So why are we here.
A question for Thompson supporters: If he Fred drops out and endorses McCain, will you then support John?
Man has been asking that very same question since he acquired the ability to think and reason. Sorry, I just couldn't resist when I saw your question. :)
Write-in John Bolton.
So much for "rolling back decades of federal government largesse".
Hunter is the most solid man to run for president since the gipper. ANd you want him to drop out. Save your breath for the weak sisters.
Better late than ever.
..then the Republic is in peril--and I am not kidding
In a time of global war, we cannot have another Jimmy Carter (Huck)
In a time of moral crisis, we do not need a liberal in drag (Rudy)
In a time of need for leadership, we do not need a disingenuous phony who pretends to be conservative (Romney)
In a time that requires an individual of integrity, we do not need a self-serving backstabber (McCain)
And Ron Paul is waiting for the next comet to come by
If Haley Barbour would have only listened to those who begged him to jump in earlier last year, or if Cheney had the health to do so.
But my guy is still in it, therefore I am not surrendering...
And yes, abolishing the income tax would be great, I agree!
As I said, if Olson and Estrada trust him, I will.
Especially Estrada.
Absolutely right!! scrioter!
Nice to see you here by the way!
Absolutely right!! scripter!
Nice to see you here by the way!
Olson and Estrada probably trusted GHWB (like we all did) on the Souter appointment.
Rudy does not have a track record of appointing Republicans in NYC, much less conservatives.
I gotta trust my own eyes on this one.
