Idaho Romney Supporters Stand By Candidate After New Hampshire Loss
KIVI-TV ^ | Jan 9, 2008

Mitt Romney supporters in Idaho won't say they're disappointed in their candidate's finish Tuesday night, but State Schools Superintendent Tom Luna says he is anxious. "But I suspect that no matter who you're supporting right now on either party, cause its so fluid."

Right now, there's no clear front runner for the Republican presidential nomination. That's despite Romney spending far more money than any other candidate in both New Hampshire and Iowa and still losing both. But his Idaho campaign chair Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch says Romney's in a good position, because he has more delegate votes right now than any other candidate. Risch says, "You can be gathering votes, even winding up second in the race and be in the position that he's in. Where he as the most committed delegates right now."

Right now, Romney has 24 delegates and his closest competitor Mike Huckabee has 18. That means the most important primaries are yet to come.

I hear what you are saying, but I disagree with the principle of forcing people to have health insurance. I don’t think a comparison with auto insurance is appropriate. My driving endangers others, and insurance is required only if I own a car and only against the damage I may cause others.

Whereas my health endangers no one. I don’t think it is right to force me to handle my own health anyone else’s way.

There may have been some pragmatic benefits to Romney’s plan, or not, but these can be very temporary. I keep a file on the horror stories coming out of countries with socialized health. Things usually start out peachy, then as the money and incentive runs out as it does in every socialistic system, things go downhill.

If Romney is the Repub nominee, we will vote for him. But I don’t like this policy of his.

Romney is not going to force his plan on you. He said it worked in Mass but may not in other states.

The problem is that The Democrats are going to push this in the general election.

I think Romney’s idea would be far superior to what the Democrats want....government insurance, where you will wait in line to see a doctor or to get a needed operation.

I see this coming as more and more people want the government to take care of them.

I applaud Romeny for stepping up to the plate and being pro-active, when most are simply talking the talk.

~”I thought Romney has 30 delegates.”~

Yeah, the count varies depending on whether the committed superdelegates are counted. Without them, he has 24.

There are 123 superdelegates total.

We don’t use the cross as a symbol for the LDS Church. The rationale is that we prefer to concentrate on His life and His resurrection, rather than on the instrument of His death. There’s nothing wrong with the cross; it’s just not a part of LDS culture.

As for the statue, that is the angel Moroni, an important figure in LDS history, and a symbol of what we believe to be the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is symbolically blowing a trumpet. The statue is not found on all temples, but it is found on many of them. Other than various paraphernalia and trinkets, that’s the only place I’ve ever seen Moroni.

I hope that answers your question!

That is the angel Moroni on top of the temple. We believe Moroni’s visit to Joseph Smith to bring forth the Book of Mormon fulfills the prophecy in Rev 14:6.

We see the cross as a symbol of Christ’s death and we want to put the emphasis on the fact that he rose from the dead, so we don’t make use of crucifixes.

There are several temples in Utah and Louis Armstrong isn’t on top of any of them. Where on earth do you get your information?

“You mean the large Mormon population in Idaho are voting for identity politics? I thought only the Huck supporters did that.”

Is Mitt running ads talking about him being a Mormon Bishop as if that is a qualification for office? Is he portraying his campaign as being endorsed by God? Huck pretty much told Mormons he didn’t want their vote, why should he then do well in states with lots of Mormons?

Who is that perched atop the spire on this Mormon church? Whatever it is is is not a cross.

....I blew it up and enhanced it and that's Louis Armstrong.

I’m not giving an ounce of political support to any politician who is supporting Romney ever again. That includes Risch and Luna.

I am walking on eggshells as I build alliances. Many of our much needed allies are working all over the nation for Romney.

Alot of Romney and Ron Paul supporters here.

I tell everyone I am a Duncan Hunter supporter, and an Alan Keyes Constitutionalist. Duncan will probably drop out, so I will vote for Alan.

So far almost everyone I have talked to who like Romney or Ron Paul agree that Duncan Hunter and Alan Keyes are much better but because they "think" they cannot win they are going for the others.

R.B. tells me there is a huge move for Huckabee, but I have not seen that yet.

Our informal straw poll will say alot.

Anyway I love Tom Luna regardless.

Utah 2,924 1,236,242 71.76%
Idaho 662 268,060 26.63%
Wyoming 128 45,793 10.10%

This is best explained as Mormons voting for Romney because he claims to be Mormon, not because Romney is staunchly conservative. If I were a Mormon, Romney would give every indication of being a hypocrite and phony. Hypocrites and phonies can tremendous damage to any religion and are an atheists favorite ploy.

Romney has made too many changes for me to trust him. If it was just the issue of Life I might be able to 1/2 way trust him, but it's several things.

He says he abhors polygamy, but stands by the faith of his fathers. His fathers faith included plural marriage as a must for eternal progression. He did not come from the mainstream LDS church, he comes from the polygamy elements that went to Mexico to live as their early prophets commanded.

Even so it is not his religion that I object to, I know thousands of honorable conservative Mormons.

This is a man I can't trust.

I sat next to him at dinner in June. He seemed so empty and vacant, but spoke with that same voice that he has now and the same voice he had in the video Eternal Vigilance linked you to.

Makes me cringe.

So, the Mormons don’t have crosses on their churches, they have whatever it is on top of that spire instead.

I believe the little gold cherub with the trumpet is the angel Moroni. I could be wrong, though.
