Yes, we know how to research and how to read. Apparently people living in the country you're from are challenged by these skills. Not surprising, there used to be some right here on FR who tried to convince us Rudy was not a liberal. They failed too.

Ok. I’ve listened to an hour and 1/2 of this, and followed along with the Fred love-in on this thread. I just don’t get it. He’s dull. He mumbles. He does not appear to want to be there. I’m sorry... There is no way this man can energize Americans enough to win. It shows in his polls, and this explains his poor polling... I’ll stay undecided until the circus comes to my town, but I’m afraid Fred is not on my short list.

You want the party to win. I want the constitution to win. Principal, Character, Gravitas, Trust not energy or image.

You're dumb enough to think because of my FReeper name, I'm from Latin America? Oh well, no surprise coming from your intelligence level. I'm from the U.S.A. Where are you from?

No, twit. Some of us think of Mexifornia as a foreign country. Maybe it's just wishful thinking.

Rush is spanking the evangelicals who call his show claiming that all are for Huck. Rush says it's just not true and asks--why aren't you supporting Fred? Rush also thinks that there is an organized campaign from the Hucksters to get on the program.

Rush says he thought Fred and Mitt were the best in the debates. He says that Fred is a depth-guy--that unfortunately TV is for 30-second sound bites. Also, that Mitt sounded like he really wanted to win this.

Do you have a source? I know what MacMattico speaks to. I live outside of NY. Had family working downtown at the time. Hubby in a plane that morning. Fire fighters who live on LI that are friends. We were lucky. I have friends who were not and have family members now dead. What MacMattico speaks is the truth, not a anecdotal....that's harsh. You must not live near NY at all. You don't get.

Would Rudy be my first choice, No. But any republican against Obama or Hillary better win. For the love of our Military. If not, maybe they will come to your city. And if you live in NY you should know better.

Isn’t it so, that the forcing part, is that those who do not buy insurance must simply be responsible for their own hospital bills if they don’t buy insurance? Sounds like a choice to me, in that the taxpayer would not be saddled with the debts of those who chose to roll the dice.

We just went through the insurance buying process in MA in November. You do NOT have a choice. If you didn't buy insurance before the end of the year, you'll see a surcharge on your MA income tax form of $216. If you still don't have it after the next year, you'll get an even bigger surcharge; about $1800 per couple. Apparently, Romney's original plan called for the ability of folks to 'opt out' of having to buy insurance, only if they posted a $10,000 bond in the event that you had to go to the ER. The Dems in the legislature didn't let that stand. Business Week has an article about it that explains the fines.

It turned out to be a good deal for us because SirKit is self-employed. However, the cost of the most bare bones policy we could get, with a high deductible was still over $700 a month. When we move to MS, the same policy will cost about $450 a month. We opened an HSA to cover those things we chose not to cover, including dental and prescription coverage. Not sure about dental, but prescription coverage would have cost us another $1800 a year. We weren't sick enough at the time to need that kind of coverage. However, on Christmas Day, I ended up in the ER in A-Fib, ended up being admitted for a 5 day stay. Had several tests because of reduced heart function, and went home with 6 different heart meds. Thankfully, ALL of them were available through the Wal-Mart $4 prescription program!

The biggest problem we found with the MA program is that you cannot choose just a catastrophic insurance plan and use the HSA for out of pocket expenses. The Dems would never have allowed that.

Chris Wallace is just weird. And every time I had to hit pause (interrupted while watching the debate), it would stop with Wallace paused in the lips puckered position. Finally I realized Wallace lives in the lips puckered position. :)

I don't know what you want a source to, there have been books published about Rudy and 911. You can google 911 families against Rudy, NY firefighters against Rudy etc. and easily find that here are many who disagree with MacMattico's husband and friends.

You are entirely wrong in your assessment of Fred supporters here. We are not supporting him based on his personality, or his acting gigs. We believe, based on his stands on the issues, that he is a solid conservative, and that he has the ability to draw the support of not only Republicans, but Independents and some Democrats, when put up against any of the Democrat candidates.

There's nothing cultish about it, because we're not supporting him based on any emotional connection. It's strictly bidness, son.

Gee, that's too bad. BTW, you're a little sensitive for someone who started the disparaging remarks. Class up.

The government has no business forcing citizens to purchase health care insurance.

I've heard Huckster fans defend Huckabee's raising taxes claiming it was by court order, and I've heard Romney fans go after him on that - what? Romney, the former governor of the only state that allows homosexuals to call themselves married, who 'couldn't do anything about it' because it was ordered by the courts?

The whole phantom image that Romney reduced taxes in Massachusetts is out the window when you incorporate the costs to taxpayers for mandated health care; in reduced pay, in out of pocket expenses, or in elimination of the personal tax deduction. It's hard to identify anyone who raised taxes more using this standard.

I was previously corrected and rightly so. My apologies.

“The biggest problem we found with the MA program is that you cannot choose just a catastrophic insurance plan and use the HSA for out of pocket expenses. The Dems would never have allowed that.”

What you were seeking to do in the above is so simple, it seems to me to be the answer. Obviously, what do I know.

The only thing I do know is that government sucks.

SirKit (hubby) and I were talking about it this afternoon. Apparently the inability to get catastrophic coverage and have a corresponding large HSA is an IRS rule. The Dems are afraid that the wealthy will opt out of the insurance industry thereby not helping to fund everyone else’s insurance. The best you can do is what we’re doing, which is get a plan with the highest deductible possible and still be able to fund the HSA with before tax dollars.
