If he can’t win those, he won’t be our nominee. If he can win those, he will be our nominee.

Most rational statement I have read so far.

#2192 I like it better when less personal attacks are spewed and more discussion is given about THE ISSUES. We have a rough road ahead and intelligent conversation can be helpful if people don’t go off. Everyone has someone they like better, but one thing is needed: ISSUES and honest assessment of leadership to tackle the issues most top of the list as well as outspoken enough to get votes

Nice post....very well put..

Fred has to speak slow so the drive-bys won’t have an excuse for misquoting him.

He looked like a fool both last night and tonight. I’m not a Romney fan but Huckabee came off as childish with his attacks on Romney. Huckabee’s behavior may well give Mitt a boost.

I thought Fred and Gulianni did pretty well tonight. Hard to say though as they didn’t get much face time.

I am going to do my best to locate the transcript of the rumors.

I am being honest about the debate tonight. It was horrible due to Fox and Chris Wallace. Wallace let the candidates answer for his (Wallace)lenght of time and not the length of the answer. Last night’s debate was far superior on ABC.

I agree that Fred is slow to answer but the content is well thought out. I, myself, prefer slow talkers. I guess this is due to southern culture.

Fred will not have a problem with Hillary or Obama. He will wipe the floor with them in a debate.

"Fred does not have the personality appeal needed to win over the country in the election. Rudy CAN win against the democrat while pulling in some independents and preventing a bloomberg 3rd party intervention."

Fred has a better shot of keeping the entire Reagan coalition together. Rudy is more likely to inspire a third party challenge from the social conservatives, which is a pretty big block.

Got a link to that Heritage Foundation endorsement of Romney? It isn’t like his NRA “endorsement” is it?

Sorry to piggyback on your post, Hattie, but do you know anyone that is for McCain?

Fox news, especially Carl Cameron, CNN, ABC radio that today noted every 30 minutes news break that McCain was leading in the NH polls, Lindsey Graham, McCain. Oh and probably Mrs. McCain.

I wish someone else could ask you this question.

Where are the negative stories about Thompson?

Forget the accurate ones. Where are the inaccurate ones? The ones that you can form from ANYBODY’S life. The stories about things from their personal lifestyle that may be benign but sound really bad, the inadvertent padding of a resume or a misstatement that is innocent but can be cast as trying to blow oneself up?

Are they out there, but we just don’t see them here because people are afraid to post them? I don’t think so. I think nobody is really spending a lot of time and money digging into Fred Thompson’s past.

I am NOT SAYING there is anything damaging there. I’m saying that nobody seems to be looking, because we aren’t seeing anybody TRYING to make anything out of his past.

For example, if Huckabee thought Thompson was his competition, wouldn’t he be digging into all those women Thompson said he was with when he was single? That would be something that would disturb the value voters Huckabee is pulling in.

I would also expect Huckabee to be making something about whether Fred’s wife and children are attending church, and if not, that would be another thing that the Huckabee constituency would find a negative.

What about people who might have worked on Fred’s landscaping, or home improvements, or as his makeup person in Hollywood? Maybe he’s been able to prevent illegals from working for him, but probably not, unless he’s never had yard work done — in Northern Virginia, it would be hard work to avoid illegals.

Again, I’m not saying there IS anything there, or suggesting we could find something there. All I am saying is it just seems that nobody is DOING the research yet, so the fact that we see nothing does not mean there IS nothing.

Rudy has been given a very close look, as has Romney. Huckabee is just getting a 2nd look. But Thompson hasn’t run for an election in over 10 years, so nobody has had any reason to do opposition research.

Even Duncan Hunter had some ‘negative stories’ about him running around.

I would love to know what you really think.

(sigh) I am watching the debates replay on Fox........I could NEVER skip an election day........never have, never will.....it would take a mack truck running over me as I marched in to stop me. I am just sick and tired of a primary season with NO hope of a true conservative in the race.
