Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #14 Milford, New Hampshire 01/06/08 - Official Discussion Thread
Fox News Channel; Roundtable format
Candidates the gatekeepers are allowing to participating:
Fred is getting the money, but he could always use more!
Most Massholes hate Mitt...Whatttareyou talkin’ bout?
Rudy was not going to do well in Mitt’s backyard. This should be the end of InSane leaving 4 serious candidates left.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Good point!
"I wish McCain had spent more of his many years in the Senate demanding more military spending (where are all those speeches, Mark asks his operatives?), I wish he had fought to strengthen the CIA prior to 9/11, I wish he had called the nation to arms - given his experience and status - against al-Qaeda well before 9/11. He deserves credit for urging a surge, but Bush was listening to his generals, and in the end to Petreaus, not McCain. And I wish one of the others would remind McCain that the war includes the homeland - including border security, detaining the enemy at GITMO, and ugly interrogations - and carrying the ACLU's brief is not the right position."
Why does Fred Thompson remind me of Robert Dole? Troll Alert!
If Fred is the nominee, the election will be about experience vs. flash.
If Mitt is the nominee, it might end up being flash vs. flash which favors Obama.
Fred has the ability to focus the election on the issues, precisely because he's not the flash candidate.
Now I’m not sure. I know he said he was ahead in SC and I thought he said he’d win there.
Got a kick out of watching the movie ‘Days of Thunder’ the other day, Fred played a racing authority who wanted to discipline the two drivers who kept crashing into each other.
He played an assertive character, it would be interesting to see him act in the debates the way he came off in the movie. :^)
***The Fredster sounds pretty good. Or, we can just refer to him by his middle name, Dalton.***
“There are no subgroups of Republicans who will sit out if Fred is the nominee.”
The three legs of our winning coalition:
1. Strong national defense/security/pro-military: check
2. Lower taxes/small government/strong economy: check
3: Social issues of pro-life, against homo. agenda, law and order, gun rights: check.
You’re right! Every one of the three “factions” should be happy, and should turn out on election day. Especially if they other choice is Hillary, Obama, or Edwards! Yikes!
Hehe, Ya gotta love Levin!
If Mitten is so well loved, why isn’t he far in the lead in NH? McCain could still win it, lose bad in S. Carolina, and if he has the mojo, do well on Feb. 5, taking Rudy’s votes if people feel Rudy wasn’t serious.
I still like Fred’s comment about John Wayne and Chuck Norris. Heehee.
No doubt, and if the debates were only broadcast on the radio, Fred would wipe him out. But when its on TV, joe and betty-6 pack are just going to be wondering why that old man is being so mean to the young fella.
I am in #1 and #2 on your list and not #3. And yes, I will vote for Fred if he wins. What all of you Fredsters are missing is that the Winning candidate will need to be able to get independents and Reagan democrats to vote for him. Obama will be able to make some headway on the Independents and we will need EVERY vote, not just Republican votes. Fred won’t be able to do that. Neither will Mitt or Huck. The only 2 people who can do that are McCain and Rudy. Which would you prefer? I like Rudy.
The reports about the debate seem to show some exciting arguments taking place.
LMAO...you’re gloating cause Mitt is popular in a Lib state...
Fred BOMBED him with that Kennedy reference.
Save your pleas for after Super Tuesday.
