A Hard Loss for Romney (He's all but doomed now)

A Hard Loss for Romney By John Ellis

It's one thing to lose as you are. What you lose is an election, but there's always another election and in the case of presidential primary politics, a new electorate that awaits you in the next state. It's another thing to lose as you aren't. Mitt Romney was never the 700 Club right-winger his campaign managers conceived. He was and is a man of business and a very capable one at that.

He's all but doomed now. Senator John McCain will beat him in New Hampshire, probably by a lot, and Romney's media coverage will evaporate and his candidacy will consequently die. On January 9, his managers will walk in and say that the campaign needs $10 million or $15 million to continue and that he, Romney, will have to write the check. Everyone who would contribute has maxed out. Everyone who might won't. Two-time losers don't get new money. It's a basic rule of politics.

But I guess that doesn’t matter to holier than thou religious bigots with hatred in their heart to any religion that differs from there own; and think that someones religious identity is more important than their political ideology.

I would HOPE so, or their 'religion' is mere lip service.

When a man makes solemn, sacred vows in a religious setting, I would sure hope that he KEEPS them, no matter WHAT the political world does!

Romney is a wonderful fine family man, a hard worker, a man of great character and integrity.

He certainly is all of those things.

So what?

I don’t believe the Constitution also says “must be of the majority religion”...

...or that if you DON'T vote for someone; for whatEVER reason; you are an un-American Communist, not-your-religion hating bigot, either.

If he ran today, he wouldn't make your cut as a Christian.

Shame on you. Why would you say that about me?

Reagan didn't wear his faith on his sleeve.

I disagree with you on Rudy’s popularity in Florida.

He probably will get the South Beach and Key West vote, but he’s not that popular even with the snow birds who have taken up their second life in the sunshine state.

If you watched last nights debates, I think Rudy just popped out of the toaster.

That’s just libel. You don’t know me or my views. I also doubt that you even know what “making your cut as a Christian” means theologically. See Matthew 7, Romans 13, 1 Timothy 3 and like versus. It’s not simple.

“This thread will be amusing a month from now.”

After last night, I am not so sure it will be.

Michigan is Romney’s last stand. I believe if he is beaten there, he will not have any chance of the nomination.

Time for all conservatives to push for a brokered convention...

Okay Mitt. You made some noise. Stay in long enough to kepp Rudy’s primary votes down, and then have some grace, shut up, and get off of the stage.

Just a note for any future appearances: You look about as cool as John Kerry, and sound so plastic and rehearsed when you respond.

I am by no means a populist, but it wouldn’t hurt you to look like a regular Joe every once in a while.

I think that will greatly benefit the DNC if it happens. The MSM will have a field day about a ‘divided Republican Party’.

And the fact is Conservatives are a minority political viewpoint.

“And the fact is Conservatives are a minority political viewpoint.”

I don’t think that is the problem. The problem, in my view, is we lacked a genuine Conservative candidate with charisma.

McCain isn’t?

He may well be, but he is irrelevant in this race.
