A Hard Loss for Romney By John Ellis
It's one thing to lose as you are. What you lose is an election, but there's always another election and in the case of presidential primary politics, a new electorate that awaits you in the next state. It's another thing to lose as you aren't. Mitt Romney was never the 700 Club right-winger his campaign managers conceived. He was and is a man of business and a very capable one at that.
He's all but doomed now. Senator John McCain will beat him in New Hampshire, probably by a lot, and Romney's media coverage will evaporate and his candidacy will consequently die. On January 9, his managers will walk in and say that the campaign needs $10 million or $15 million to continue and that he, Romney, will have to write the check. Everyone who would contribute has maxed out. Everyone who might won't. Two-time losers don't get new money. It's a basic rule of politics.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Music to my ears. He’s nothing but a slimy gun grabbing RINO.
I have said if we wanted a businessman in chief we would have Donald Trump
We need a Comander in Chief and Mitt doesn’t qualify.
I dont think Romney drops till AFTER NH,”

They expect to do well in NH, but SC...that is a horse of a different color.
I don’t care when he drops, as long as he drops.
I just hope he sticks around long enough to destroy that other liberal fraud, the Huckster.
The only pleasure I got out of the results tonight is that Romney and Hillary were beaten.
Big time.
Iowa voters are still sorta dumb. Not dumb enough to fall for Romeny but dumb enough to go for Huck.
All he offered was flip flopping.
Here’s hoping McCain finishes him off in New Hampshire. Willard is not only a RINO but a lying and flip-flopping one.
If Romney goes, the race is over.
Yeah, they really staked their claim to irrelevance tonight. They drank the Huckster's Jesus juice? Sheesh. Maybe Fred should have done a tent revival, complete with rattlesnakes. Those wacky Iowans would have LOVED that....

Whom does he endorse? More importantly, who benefits from his supporters?
John Ellis is a contributing columnist to RealClearPolitics. In his day job, hes a partner at Kerr Creek Partners, a venture capital firm.Ouch. Going after one of their own.
Romney is obsessed with being elected President and he will not accept defeat gracefully. The Romneys are OWED the Presidency that was stolen from George Romney, it's his birthright, he's done everything right, he WILL have it, it is HIS, his precioussssssss.....
You kid(?) but yes, I think Iowans would have liked a tent revival c/o Fred.
I’ve heard it suggested — Thompson-Hunter ticket. Whadda you think?
I can’t agree with you more. He was a sham candidate even more so than Huckabee. When will the GOP elite learn that it takes more than being good at business and slick looks to be electable in Republican politics. John Ellis hits the nail on the head. Romney like his religion leaves one thinking “why?”.
What is the point?
We have electable conservative candidates that had they a third of the money he blew in Iowa they would be riding high. I don’t think Mitt is out until after Super Tuesday but he will receive pressure like he has never received when he loses NH and South Carolina.
Hillary’s loss was sweet wasn’t it? Obama will be a difficult one to campaign against but a brave candidate can do it. Romney could not and I don’t believe Huck could. (He’d get too caught up saying nice things about him and down playing liberal and conservative differences) Thompson, McCain and Rudy are the only ones who have the temerity to go after him.
