Mike Huckabee supporters check in here.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:46:37 PM PST by Arcy

I for one am excited about Huckabee's leading and probably winning in Iowa! Here's a guy who has made REAL income tax reform a high priority of his candidacy. While some of the other candidates have claimed tax reform as part of their plan, non have been more passionate about the need for it and willing to make it a center-piece of their plan for America as Mike Huckabee. I believe that the average American has recognized in Mike Huckabee, a person of integrity and vision, a man who keeps his word, a man of faith, and therfore, is worthy of their support. He certainly has 100% of mine!

Are you attending a Baptist college?

I don't see the relevance?

In any case, the answer is no. Wheaton College, a non-denominational Christian liberal arts school. Famously Billy Graham's alma mater.

For all that may be true, he didn't do hunters much good by shooting his shotgun over the heads of the members of the press...even if they were 75 yards away...while in pursuit of a flushed pheasant. Muzzle discipline is the first lesson you learn in handling a firearm.

It's one thing if, like Dick Cheney, someone walks up on your blindside, but Hickaberry knew where the people accompanying him were and he still shot at them.

He's and idiot and a dangerous one at that (and I don't mean because of the shotgun incident).

You one issue voters are going to destroy America either by electing a prolife socialist (unlikely) or whatever Democrat is nominated...probably Hillary or possibly Obama (more likely), both of whom are socialist baby killers.

Get a brain!

Really? Huckabee’s a “breath of fresh air”? Your fresh air hired that vile Ed Rollins to do his dirty work by proxie. None of Huckabee’s public displays of ignorance over the last 10 days bothers you?

You posted: Ed Rollins is one vile SOB.

Perhaps, but he isn’t running. These campaign managers are Machiavellian so that the candidates don’t have to be. I think of Lee Atwater, Karl Rove and the like.

I am not a Huckabee supporter, or a supporter of any GOP candidate at the moment. I will support whoever is the GOP candidate, if for no other reason than to slow the liberal train— and that may be all a GOP president can do. I know it is the political season, but I really hate to see pure poltics on this site. Give me issue-based discussions anytime.

I saw the Huckster on Leno. He's good. (So was Leno, btw. He should hope the writer's strike lasts forever.)

I think he can win the GOP nomination and the presidency. I probably would vote for him in the general which I didn't think I would do.

Hope, Ark. should adopt a motto -- the cradle of snake-oil salesmen and presidents and both.

Don't make too big an issue of Rollins. Reagan used him.

I think this quote from the Leno show is a big reason for why Huck is doing ok.

“People are looking for a presidential candidate who reminds them more of the guy they work with rather than the guy that laid them off.”

Another Governor from Arkansas, the Land of Clintoon!

That's a deal breaker for me. I'll vote for him if he winds up as the pubbie candidate, but will not vote for him in a primary.

Clara..
My fault for not putting the line in quotes but I was responding to Arcy who said Huck was a breath of fresh air.
If you read the rest you will see that I said he will get suffocated.
Huckabee to me is the foulest of people. Manipulative, passive aggressive, phony, disingenuous, and someone who is using the Lord to advance his own agenda and desire.
I find it hard to believe that so many people can be hoodwinked by this guy. What are they thinking? Having Huck in the Whitehouse would be disasterous for this country. But the kicker is that the Dems want him to be the candidate. He would be roadkill after they finish with him. My son is in the military. No way do I want his commander in chief to be someone that is Huck's ilk.

Being realistic about how things work in Washington...
Fred would give you what you want...just not do it the way you think it should be done. However he knows the way you think it should be done will never come to fruition. And so he has another plan that can work. Thats why I like him.
Realism.

I’m sorry that I misunderstood your post. My coffee hadn’t kicked in yet. [Gotta lay the blame somewhere!]

It frightens me to think of Huckabee coming up against Putin or those maniacs in Iran [to name a few]. I like preachers, but they belong in the pulpit, not in the Oval Office. God is not going to protect us because we elect a preacher.

And the Democrat candidate, no matter who he/she is, is going to DRUB Huckabee. They’re already collecting video clips and texts of Huckabee’s inept or even ignorant comments.

"...the foulest of people...?" Oh come on lady, you're giving in to your natural desire to become hysterical when something doesn't go your way. If you don't like Huckabee's support of the Fair-Tax plan or his pro-life record then fine; just say so. But stop with the attacks on his faith by insinuating that he is not a true Christian by saying 'he is using the Lord'. I think the Lord is using Huckabee.

Because now that it is apparent that he can win something he will face scrutiny now that will expose his liberal policies in immigration, government, and taxes.

“Don’t make too big an issue of Rollins. Reagan used him.”

Yes and Rollins was one of the anklebitters that betrayed him when he left office(if I recall correctly).

I think the whole Hucklebilly phenomenon is a sham created by the media and the Hillary machine and really fear for our party if this man is elected. With that said, I would fall in line and vote for him, should he get the nomination and pray that the party could keep him in line better than they could keep Hillary or Obama from turning this country into a socialist state.

Why don't you start a daily "Pray for Huckabee thread" and see how many people respond?

Good idea. Maybe it will hasten the Rapture too.

I am far from hysterical nor have I been disrespectful to you. Do not call me lady with such condescension. By your tone I now understand why you would support Huck. If you have a problem with the message I got from Huck then please tell HIM to run on the issues and not his Christianity or his attacks on his opponents for what he perceives is their lack of Christianity. Tell Huck to stop hiding behind his faith.

I used to think that but I changed my mind after watching him -- and not just the Leno thing, but his Christmas ad and his little stunt where he pulled the negative ads after showing them to reporters. This guy is a natural talent. I think he surpasses Slick.

And you are right, I trust about as far as I could have thrown him before he lost the weight.

What is it about Arkansas?

Anyway, the Huck's accomplishment has turned me from a lukewarm supporter of McNotrealsane to a strong one.
