I thought the time was right to start up a live thread for results and comments about tonight, so here we are!
Would you expand your response a bit and reply specifically to my observation and assertion that you are contradicting yourself?
Which you are.
Sorry, but them's the facts!
Just NOW the North Koreans are causing some new trouble(s) (as was expected). I am going to post it in "Breaking" in just a few minutes from now. This will make the Bush Administration look bad, but news is news.....
I'd rather work towards getting rid of the issue, but not at the expense of all other issues. Balance!
Of course they have a gloriously enlightened political system after narrowly escaping the parliamentary democracy which nearly led them to perdition under the former Sha of Iran. The practise of Judaism and Christianity is outlawed in Iran. MOrality is enforved by Sharia law. They have the whole shebang wrapped up in one neat uniform religious political pre criterion, very similar to yours. Now what would the USA be like if the majority of people in the United STates held your view?
It would over time be very much like Iran.
And our founding fathers were very wise in the Republican culture they created. We have steadfastly avoided such evolution, and hopefully will continue to do so.
That’s Okay...
You can be a bonified Christian and stil not plan to vote for Huckabee...
I’m a Christian and I’m not voting for Huckabee and I approve this message
:)
You said — “I agree, not because I’m a bigot, but because a Christian has a God centered worldview. That helps me understand the basis for a Christian candidate’s reasoning on current and future issues. On issues of the most critical importance, like abortion, we can trust a Christian’s reasoning because we know that he knows that he has to answer to God. We can also make an appeal to a Christian magistrate, who may be wrong, on issues like security, immigration or taxes, on a biblical basis and know that the Christian, if he is a true Christian, must take heed.”
Well, good to see (and hear from) another Christian who understand the issue at hand. It’s not that Christians are ignorant of the other political matters, but it’s just putting first what must be first, and then the other things come after that.
I suspect that you’ll find a lot of Evangelical voters the same way, even if they don’t want to talk about it.
Just because I’m talking about it (and being a “loudmouth” about it, too... LOL) doesn’t mean that I’m the only one thinking that way — among the Evangelicals.
I hope certain segments of the GOP is getting this idea right — or else — these other elements of the GOP are going to have a *trainwreck* of a party to attend to — one that will never amount to anything ever again...

Joseph was sent a message in a dream. Mary was visited by an angel. Paul was blinded by a bright light and heard a voice...
I guess any of those methods would probably work for me, too...

Is there anyone to email about the debate? It’s ridiculous that people on the ballot are not invited to the debate — I’d be glad to send an email saying so (if I knew where to send it).
Best of luck to Hunter in Wyoming and NH — the race continues to be open and unpredictable.
Not a normal family in more ways than one
Then you need to pay attention to the reason Quix’s voice goes farther than yours.
How does Thompson fail that and Huckabee pass that “Christian” test?
“How does Thompson fail that and Huckabee pass that Christian test?”
Because Star Traveler hasn’t heard the word “Jesus” from Fred.
That's been a problem, although the hotel (Omni Shoreham) bar is always the best place to get together after the day activities are over. I will give you our cell phone numbers via FReepmail so we can keep in touch... that's the best way I've been able to locate FReepers at CPAC. CPAC has really grown over the years, and is more "spread out" than it used to be. Very difficult to find people sometimes.
I just saw the Laura Ingraham thing on Fox. Yea, scary thought, but I guess Im not excited about any of the Republican candidates this time around. But, it is worrisome.
You and me both.
As an aside, I changed my registration to Dem so I can vote against HER in the Primary because I am not excited with any of the Republican candidates.
Stupid thing to do here probably but I dont really care at this point, I am voting for Obama in the primary here in Pa because I dont wish to split that ticket anymore than Paul will split the Republican ticket...
LOL... "zelig" registered as a Dem years ago just to "cause trouble" in the Dem primaries. (I nearly died when he first told me he registered as a democRAT) I don't know if that strategy has ever done any good here in deep-blue Connecticut, but zelig sure got a kick out of voting for Al Sharpton in the last 'RAT primary. He was planning to vote for Dennis "UFO" Kucinich, if he lasts 'til Super Tuesday. ;-)
There was a board on FOX we were all posting to the other evening giving our view on omitting Hunter.
Hunter Press person’s e-mail on his campaign site might be a person to check with to send e-mails
I would not presume to know another man’s thoughts on Jesus. Not Fred Thompson’s, and certainly not Mike Huckabee’s. However, seeing as how one has had quiet dignity on the matter and the other has shamelessly exploited his supposedly Christian credentials, I am more inclined to have confidence in Thompson.
You said — “Well lets hope you find your perfect candidate this side of heaven.”
Well, this is where you betray your ignorance of Christianity, you see.
Having a candidate who is a Christian — is not asking for perfection (this side or the other side of Heaven). A Christian (as you probably have seen from the bumper sticker) is not perfect, but simply forgiven. You see..., the bumper sticker tells the truth, after all.
A person choosing to accept God’s plan of salvation, and admitting that God is right, and that His way of salvation that He offers as a free gift, through His Son, Jesus Christ — is not instantly made perfect. They are “clothed” in the “righteousness of Christ” — in that God “imputes” the righteousness of Christ upon that person. They are “saved” (and not perfect).
So, finding a candidate who is “saved” is not really very difficult. It’s such a simple and easy thing to become saved, because Jesus has done the hard part. You only have to do the easy part, and accept Him as your personal Savior.
What’s so hard about any candidate doing that? No problem at all. All we have to look out for is someone “faking” being a Christian. And with Thompson, it’s obvious he has no idea what the Gospel is or what the “good news” is all about. So, he can’t even choose to be a Christian when he has no concept of what to choose in the first place. He’s a good example of someone trying to fool the public into believing that he’s a Christian.
Now, once you get past that “criteria” — you can apply the very same criteria of politics that you apply to *anyone else* (whether they are a Christian or not).
So, what has changed (in using this methodology that I mentioned, versus another methodology)? Absolutely nothing (for the “rest of it”) — the only different thing is making sure they are a Christian — first.
And *that* is supposed to be a “hard thing”... LOL...

Star Traveler
You said — “I have fought against bigots and hucksters for a long time and expect I will continue to do so in the future.”
I’ll see if I can find you a few more windmills... LOL

The only announcement Hunter has made after the caucus is that he is not dropping out. Sorry to burst your bubble.
