John McCain Busts a Move By Salena Zito
Hands down, John McCain is the buzz in New Hampshire. After a political freefall in the summer, the man who swept Granite State Republicans and independents in 2000 has gone and done a Lazarus, resurrecting his presidential candidacy.

Wrong. Duncan Hunter has at least as strongly against abortion as any of the remaining candidates. Please quit ignoring Hunter--he's the best man in the race.
He seems to have lots of money now. Wonder where it's coming from. I've been bombarded with more flyers from him than from any other candidate.
I understand just how you feel. McCain, Guliani and Huckabee are absolute no-go’s for me. I don’t think Thompson has ever been anything but pro-life and I know Duncan Hunter has not. Duncan Hunter is my far-and-away first choice.
Oh, I wasn’t including Hunter or Thompson in that statement, sorry. I think that McCain gets a free pass to first tier because he’s been there before and won N.H. before, too.
I actually like McCain and think the thrashing he has taken is way out of line.
agree
This is exactly what he did in 2000 - but what happens to him after NH ..??
I don’t see McCain being able to withstand the rise of Thompson (who is tied with McCain in Iowa).
Willard is still ahead in NH and will get a nice boost 5 days out by vanquishing the Huckster in IA and dominating Wyoming. Then off to SC for round 2 with a now Thompson-endorsed McCain who, like 2000, stumbles again.
Then the final battle - the great armageddon - comes down to Florida where Willard gives Rudy a savage beating since McCain is still in the race and splits the moderate vote as the Catherine Harris-faction of the party sends Willard to California and Super Tuesday with a 6-0 record that no one can overcome.
The end.
McCain’s all about disenfranchising the American voter. That’s all I need to know to never, ever trust him.
How is his stance on regulating the reflected light from the moon?
Same thing. - Two issues that the president has almost zero control or influence over, but do make people so minded feel good.
I do know his stance on flooding the country with another 20 million illegals, however.
I do know that he thinks that I would not do manual labor for $50 per hour.
I do know that he opposes the Bush tax cuts.
In fact, in just the last 4 years, my opinion of him as a potential candidate has turned around 180 degrees, over the things that he has done, and his increasingly bizarre behavior.
Thank you for your post, and Happy New Year. - Bill
Not sure exactly how you mean that, but the “Katherine Harris faction” is pretty solid for Fred Thompson.
And since I see the way that real Conservatives, as opposed to the general GOP types, are losing ground everywhere to RINOs and the dem lite factions, I hold little hope for Conservatives in America’s future.
The character of the nation is the worst it has been in the history of the country. Congress does reflect the selfishness of the nation.
bttt
I’ve been strongly opposed to McCain’s candidacy since the 2000 election, when Jim Robinson was one his strong supporters. I don’t trust him and I don’t think that he is a conservative at all, as a matter of fact, I don’t think that McCain even likes conservatives. He is much more at home with his liberal friends.
The clincher on McCain for the one issue voters, should have been the fact that he was brought up on congressional charges for raping the wife of another former POW. The Congress let him off because he claimed that she was drunk and came on to him. The problem with McCain’s story was that the woman was a tea totaler.
Well God as my witness, as much as I do not want McCain, I sure as hell will vote for him in order to keep the rotten mess of who would be in if not for him.
I do not understand people cutting their noses off in order to spite their faces.
My God we are voting on a President, a politician, not God, nor a saint. Had you rather have Hillary? Are you mad?
Wow, Eva. I had never heard that entire story. Thanks.
I’m really not a one issue voter, although I have to admit that I would never pull the lever for a staunch supporter of amnesty.
McCain just has too many negatives on his account for me to support him.
And they keep piling up, year after year.
Have a Happy New Year, and may we all prosper. - Bill
