Opposition leader Benazir Bhutto has been critically injured after a suspected suicide attack at a political rally in Pakistan.
It was believed to be a suicide attackShe is undergoing emergency surgery at a nearby hospital, Sky News sources say.
The explosion went off just after Ms Bhutto left the rally in Rawalpindi, minutes after her speech to thousands of people.
Sounds like Musharif knew what he was talking about every time they put this woman under house arrest due to threats.
Anything is possible..........
There was a suicide bombing about 50 yards away- as she was escaping from that- she was shot- then apparently the shooter blew himself up- but this is all early going- it will take awhile to sort out..

"A worldwide search for properties secretly bought by the Bhutto family is still in its early stages. But the inquiry has so far found that Zardari went on a shopping spree in the mid-1990s, purchasing among other things a $4 million, 355-acre estate south of London. Over eight months in 1994 and 1995, he used a Swiss bank account and an American Express card to buy jewelry worth $660,000 -- including $246,000 at Cartier Inc. and Bulgari Corp. in Beverly Hills, Calif., in barely a month."
True..except that in a country where democracy..and constitutional succession..is fragile..the military is the unspoken guardian of that prerogative..Turkey is an example.

I have just found out that she was invited and went to a wedding there. She is a feisty sort and does what she wants. Wise? Maybe not. Boring? Never.

AQ/Taliban, most likely. Musharraf could have killed her when she arrived, the first time. He would have been in hot water with us. He's no longer the head of the army, as we requested.
BB, may she RIP, said, and I paraphrase that she's for democracy and equal treatment for women, including ruling Moslem countries, something AQ/Taliban don't fathom. Therefore, she said that she'll crack down on them.
