Merry Christmas from Kuwait's infamous Camp Arifjan!
It is Now 06:00 and I clearly Hear Revelrey blasting while listening to a Bing Crosby CD and The Little Drummer Boy playing.. as I type.. I have been at work since 03:00 hours. The temperature is Chilly at 36 degrees in the Arabian desert.A major deviation from the 155 Farenheit in August..
Went to Mass last night off post at 19:00 and had a Birthday Christmas Dinner with a Group a Mixture of Kuwaiti's Germans and Americans.plus a GROUP OF FILIPINO CAROLERS came and sang 10 beautiful Christmas songs for our little get together..We then Had Chardonnay and Merlot but all of the Non Alcholic Variety.
Toughest thing was sitting between two beautiful ladies who Cooked seperate deserts and having to declare the winner obviously I picked the Key Lime Cheesecake a third option baked by the Host and Birthday Girl!!.
I did unfortunately sit accross from a democratic operative who told me multiple stories how great Ted Kennedy was , my only comment was "it must have been before he had swimming lessons" I couldn't believe later during dessert she started to tell me how much she adored Jimmy Carter... I gagged and politely reminded her of my travails Pushing My Car on the Florida Turnpike one mile while in Line to get fuel during his presidency and a Little annoyance Called Iran.I was ready to unload if she brought up Abortion being Christmas I held Fire..
Luckily no hangover today but with only 2 hours sleep it's gonna be a long day! We have a Lunch scheduled with our Indian staff at the DFAC the two days a Year they eat at our DFAC.... Somehow this year doesn't feel like Christmas.. unfortunately everybody seems to lack the Christmas spirit... I hope to Change that By Handing out 300 letters and cards to the troops from junior High kids from my community back home. Then Going to the Noon Mass on post and Celebrating what Christmas really Means to Me.. the Birth of Emmanuel!
Bing is NOW Singing... 'Do You Hear what I hear"!!!Merry Christmas everyone...God Bless!
I will say the prayer, philly-d-kidder. Thanks for writing from the “infamous” Arifjan...:) I came home from Christmas Vigil mass myself just a while ago... surpassingly beautiful.
You are the best. I will say a prayer for you too.
(((HUGS))) from home.
The Battle of Kuwait took 36 hours but it never be over converting liberals to conservatism. May God be with you for ever and ever and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to Man Kind...
Thank you for being there on our behalf. God bless you.
Merry Christmas to you my friend. I spent Christmas in Kuwait one year (anchored off Kuwait City though, not in the desert).
Sounds like you got to KNB or SPOD...once in awhile... you still got to experience the extreme heat I feel 98 % Humidty in Singapore / Equator is worse than the 150 Farenheit with dry heat in Kuwait.. but thats me...
What an outstanding and wonderfully upbeat letter!
Please know that so many of us appreciate your service from the bottom of our hearts.
Merry Christmas from Washington state.
Merry Christmas to you too.
You’re very welcome.
I’m in Arifjan with 3-116th...out of Winchester!
155 F sounds a tad high since the world record is in the 130s.
(might have felt like 155 F with your body armor and helmet on though)
I am blessed to be home, so sweet home for a brief time, but am usually residing in your time zone.
Take care and I'll be pasing by your way (Ali al Salim) late in the first week of the new year.
My best to you all!
Yep. I was lucky though. I always went to the Gulf in the winter/spring so I missed the worst heat. What I remember is like you said-Kuwait in the winter can be cold.

Don’t get spiritual on us:)Ok go ahead:)(((Hugs)))) for Christmas Eve.Did I say I am proud of you:)
May the spirit of Chistmas be alive and stong at Speicher and all over theater.
My heart, prayers and thoughts are with you all.
I'd probably have voted for the cheese cake even though just once I made a great Key Lime pie, think I had to put just a little agnostura? bitters in it. I never made a really good New York style cheese cake which is my fav. But if you had my pumpkin pies I just took out of the oven, I would hope you would vote for that with the option of real whipped cream. My family doesn't like any other ones but mine.
Be safe and thanks for your service to our country!
RA RA RA Merry Christmas
(can't say hohoho anymore)
