VP.

If we'd stop savaging our bunch, we'd see that we have 3-4 candidates better than anyone the dems can put forth.

He is a fine general, but do we know what his political agenda would be? I usually base my support of politicians on past performance in said field.

Why would you do that to such a decent guy?

He said no to that last week, no interest at this time, and I have no idea what his agenda would be anyway.

Military men can be a little excentric and of an unrestrained, free ranging type when it comes to non military subjects.

What do you know about him outside of being a General that has recently been in the news because of his Generalship in our current war?

He quoted Sherman about not running, and if elected he won’t serve. He doesn’t want the job, he’s just a darned good solier. Why Peder-Principle the guy out of a great job?

If Gen. Petraeus beat Hillary, would she have to have a willful
suspension of disbelief?

Generals have historically not made good presidents. And not very conservative ones either, having spent thirty years or so being managers in a centralized system where the good of the system itself is what matters.

Some suggested the same about Colin Powell.

A few years in Washington brought out the true Leftist in him

What are his views on taxes, and immigration and the Right to Life? Stem cell research? Gay marriage? Gun control? Global Warming? Healthcare?

Get back to me, OK?

I think the good General is needed elsewhere.

Just like with General Colin Powell, just because someone is a brilliant military leader doesn’t mean he has true conservative political philosophy.

The Dems have the same the same problem with General Clark, ex-leader of NATO. The difference between the two parties being that the GOP backed away from Powell when people began to understand his beliefs while the Dems have pushed Clark into a leadership position despite how rabid a moonbat he is.

A military person would seem to have a chance, politically, only AFTER he had won a major war, not while he is conducting it.

General Swartzcoff was probably the last best chance to date that a military person had, as he had won Gulf War I.

Petraeus not interested in Presidency. Not quite a "Sherman" though ...

Harry Truman said generals make lousy presidents—too much pride and they aren’t used to having to take orders from those they lead (citizens vs soldiers)..
Ike wasn’t too bad but he could have been better and Harry hated him.Still, there is a point there—look at Grant.

I don’t think we’re going to see someone go directly from the U.S. military into the White House anytime soon. I’m not sure a general is the right kind of person this country would ever want in the White House again anyway.

I don’t like liberals any more than you do. So we get their neighbors to inform on them, and then we hunt them down and kill them? Isn’t that the Petreaus plan?

Since he went to Princeton, he’s obviously a Ivy-League-Liberal.
