How about General Patreaus as our candidate chosen at a brokered convention?
Why not make this a referendum on sanity?
An understatement is there ever was one. Our worst ticket (Guilani-Huckabee) would be better than their best ticket (Biden-Richardson) in terms of competence.

They are not our bunch, they belong to the RNC and the Drive by Media.
The Dems have the same the same problem with General Clark, ex-leader of NATO. The difference between the two parties being that the GOP backed away from Powell when people began to understand his beliefs while the Dems have pushed Clark into a leadership position despite how rabid a moonbat he is.
I don't think Petraeus drinks as much as Grant.
However, lets let Petraeus finish the job in Iraq....he's doing a supurb job. After he gets back, there will be plenty of time to see if he would be a Great Conservative President.
He's a great possibility for 2012....but lets see how he performs in Political Warfare before we rush to print bumperstickers.
A military person would seem to have a chance, politically, only AFTER he had won a major war, not while he is conducting it.
General Swartzcoff was probably the last best chance to date that a military person had, as he had won Gulf War I.
Compared to this bunch of weasels (OK except Duncan, whio can't draw flies) no friggin' contest. OK., OK, maybe Thompson ain't such a bad guy. Wake him up and we'll talk.
I think the top four could beat Hill and through in Hunter for good measure.
Well, at least they’re a bunch!
I guess I’d vote for the lesser of two evils in case we get the “wrong” one. But I think almost any of the repubs would be preferable to the alternative.
“We do have several good candidates, and the fight is going to the convention floor.”
Compared to the Dems, we DO have several good candidates. I would love to see a brokered convention - I think it would be great publicity, and ultimately unify the party.
I think we would be in the best shape if Thompson won such a convention running against either Dem OR against either Dem and Bloomberg (assuming MB runs third party).
I’m very optimistic about a Republican winning the Presidency.
I will agree. I’ll vote Hunter as a backup.
Harry Truman said generals make lousy presidents—too much pride and they aren’t used to having to take orders from those they lead (citizens vs soldiers)..
Ike wasn’t too bad but he could have been better and Harry hated him.Still, there is a point there—look at Grant.
Maybe he can clean out the leftist insurgents on capital hill.
Of course, Wesley “Ashley Wilkes” Clark was somewhat less than brilliant.
Clark was no “brilliant” military leader...he was/is an idiot.
The Balkan Wars were/are a fiasco...and the fact it never became a ground war for us is the only saving grace for that misery, it would have been poorly led by Clark (being the NATO Allied Commander)
My favorite memory of Clark’s incompetence was when he ordered a British General to take an airbase that had been siezed by the Russians (since the Russians wanted to assert their influence in the region) by force if necessarry...the British General’s reply was “No, sir. I am not going to start WWIII for you.”
Wesley Clark...is niether the first or the last buffoon to hold a flag officers rank...
