WASHINGTON (CNN) – Texas Rep. Ron Paul refused to rule out a third party bid Sunday if he fails to win the Republican Party presidential nomination.
When Tim Russert of NBC’s 'Meet the Press' asked the Texas congressman if he’d consider an independent bid, he replied: "I have no intention of doing that."
When pressed by Russert to state unequivocally that he would not, Paul demurred. "I deserve one weasel wiggle now and then, Tim!"
Paul lost to Phil Gramm in the 1984 Texas Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. Four years later, he ran for president as the Libertarian Party nominee.
The Republican presidential contender — who has an intensely loyal national following — is pulling in record fundraising sums, prompting speculation that he may continue his White House bid even if he does not fare well among Republican primary voters.
Paul is currently averaging single-digit showings in most recent surveys of GOP voters nationally and in early-voting states.

Ron Paul is very conservative on most issues. About the only ones he is not is foreign policy and drugs (which he wants left up to the states). I won't vote for him because of his foreign policy especially with regards to the Middle East but he's Pro Life, Pro Gun, Pro Small Government and Anti-Illegal Immigration.
Probably the only reason you haven’t heard him rail about immigration is because #1) the RINO Republican leadership have always hated him because he won’t vote for pork barrel projects they put and in fact he rails them on it and #2) the mainstream media hates him even more because he’s completely anti-socialist. It wasn’t until he was against Iraq that the media even put him on the radar at all. They still only do JUST enough to try to break apart the Republican Party but not enough to actually put Ron Paul into the spotlight as he’d be a Democrats worse nightmare.
As you no doubt fear, of course it will.
Despite the protests to the contrary here, he didn’t get elected with an “R” next to his name by accident.
Now if he were on the same ticket as bloomberg then it would be well worth it, seeing the real damage to the dems that that ticket would ensue.

I don’t “grow skin” and accept the coarsening of American life. I choose instead not to associate with people who can’t discuss an issue without resorting to gutter language.

Please stop sending me your propaganda about Ron Paul. I have no intention of reading it .. because in listening to him during the debates, I heard all I needed to know to be sure he was not someone I would support.
Ron Paul could be the “democrats’ worst nightmare” - but not in the way you think. The kook-left who are radically anti-war are joining the ranks. This will hurt the dems, but it won’t hurt the repubs if Paul runs on a 3rd party ticket.
You can support anybody you want .. I don’t give a rip. And .. don’t bother trying to convert me .. it’s a lost cause.
I'm afraid so. A lot of people are looking at him, not so much here, but elsewhere. I wouldn't even if I don't like the Repub nominee. The last thing we need this election is a spoiler like Perot.

This is according to Rasmussen .. and I believe it PROVES what I said about Ron attracking more liberals is absolutely correct.
Perot had his strongest support in red (blue, at the time) states: Maine (30.4%), Alaska (28.4%), Utah (27.3%), Idaho (27.0%), Kansas (27.0%), Nevada (26.2%), Montana (26.1%), Wyoming (25.6%). More Perot voters identified themselves as "conservative" than "liberal" (27%-20%). His support came from white, middle-class males... the lifeblood of any Republican candidate.
Bill Clinton never would have won Ohio, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, Colorado, Louisiana, Kentucky, Nevada, New Hampshire, Maine or Montana without Ross Perot. The election would have most likely come down to Iowa or New Jersey, and without Perot forcing Bush to fight for solid red (blue) states, it would have been a completely different race.
This would put Soros in a bind.

What does that have to do with anything we were talking about? We were talking about you hadn’t heard about his anti-immigration policy and I said you hadn’t because the MSM & Republican Leadership do not let him talk because he doesn’t tow the normal line. I’m sure he does get some of the Anti-Iraq vote. However, if he actually ran, he’s other positions are so far to the right on taxes, guns, abortion, immigration, etc the left would NEVER vote for him.
The end of the income tax is the only way Americans can truly be free once again.
Also the Republicans at the top are all CFR/Trilateral goons that support a world government. Same as the Democrats.
The socialist income tax, World government and banks owned by foreigners that print all the money they want are going to ruin America more surely than a standing army. And unless America wakes up and puts people in power that care about and work to change such things, then only a revolution will fix the problem.
The anti-war people are single issue people. Ron’s adamant about getting out of the war - and so are the anti-war people. It’s their only issue .. but they’ll vote for him because they hate the war.
And .. they’ll vote for Ron as punishment to Hillary - because she won’t bow to their demands.
But I think he's a kook on foreign policy.
