Weatherford, OK Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), has issued a disturbing policy which requires all employees to refrain from using the word "Christmas" in oral or written form. This directive was given by the university upon legal advice of the Oklahoma Attorney General, W.A. Drew Edmondson. Liberty Counsel sent a demand letter to SWOSU following a complaint from a university affiliate.
John Misak, the Director of Human Resources, recently visited various university departments and employee groups and informed everyone that any decorations featuring the word "Christmas" in any work or public areas of the university must be immediately removed. He also instructed everyone to discontinue the use of the term "Christmas" in their speech while on the job. This censorship specifically includes exchanging greetings of "Merry Christmas" among employees or with nonemployees, whether initiated by a nonuniversity employee or not. Christmas remains a legal holiday for state employees, including those at SWOSU. The directive does not include any other legal holidays such as Thanksgiving or New Years.

...But Fu** You is acceptable...
Merry Christmas to them too! Whether they like it or not.
Don’t bother shouting at the SWOSU administration. If the article is accurate, they’re acting on (bad) advice from the Oklahoma attorney general. Call him, and ask him to correct (or more likely, “clarify”).
“Hello, Bob, I was going to wish you the traditional benediction for the late December timeframe. However, we have been banned from using that particular “C” word.”
“So Bob, may you have a joyous time with your family in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, Savior of the world.”
(you get the idea, everytime they ban one version, just keep changing it a bit to stay within the LETTER of their “law”.) (question to self: Is it unChristian to yank the chains of these folks?)
Just don’t send any freshpersons there next Fall.
DemoLib Nazis attacking Free Speech again.
Funny how Christmas is anathema, except when people want a paid day off.
Yes, good point.
Those outside Oklahoma that lauded the state’s banning of the Confederate Flag all over the state are ignorant of the downward slope to which the state is heading. First, destroy any vestiges of heritage and vilify it. Second, vilify Christianity and remove any vestiges of it in the schools and institutions of higher learning...thereby rearing Nazis and Communists...Third, come in and take over the state..then country...Its working in Oklahoma now....
South Western Oklahoma State? I’ve been trying to figure out where Eastern Carolina is for at least the last 15 years!
Well if employers can violate a person’s 1st amendment rights and their 2 amendment rights. Why don’t they just stop the game playing and fire anyone who doesn’t vote their way also.
If you are going to become a dictator state, don’t be shy about it.
Yet Ramadan is perfectly acceptable, I’ll bet....
I never would have expected this in Oklahoma”
Sleeper cells are everywhere.....
Also brought to you by the ACLU.
I woke up to it over a year ago, around the same time I stumbled upon Free Repbulic. I don’t know what to do. Liberals seem to imply that secular “values” existed all along, and we are the ones trying to replace them with Christianity, hence one of the reasons we are called fascists. There is nothing we can do at this point, as they have solid control of the media, education, and part of the political system. I try to support conservative candidates and family groups that are working to make a difference. Something just tells me things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.
Does the ban extend to "Happy Channukah"? Or "Merry Ramadan"?
If not, why not?
That’s true. If they REALLY want to adhere to the “separation of church and state”, then they should not recieve Christmas off. Public employees and schools ought to go to work and school on Christmas. That should make the ACLU very happy.
