MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Campaigning in New Hampshire today, Republican Ron Paul says he would lift sanctions on Iran and order the U.S. Navy to pull back from its shores.
Paul says if the U.S. relieved pressure on Iran, people would breathe a sign of relief, interest rates probably would not go up and oil prices probably would drop.
Speaking in Manchester, Paul said the Bush administration has been looking for war with Iran.
Survival skills and common sense are not your forte it seems.
It made me want to run out and do something, alright - but “vote for him” was not the something it made me want to do.
I don’t think he is. What he is doing right now is allowing us to identify all the RINO dogwhistles out there.
“No war should ever be fought without a declaration of war voted upon by the Congress, as required by the Constitution.
“Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.
“Too often we give foreign aid and intervene on behalf of governments that are despised. Then, we become despised. Too often we have supported those who turn on us, like the Kosovars who aid Islamic terrorists, or the Afghan jihadists themselves, and their friend Osama bin Laden. We armed and trained them, and now were paying the price.
“At the same time, we must not isolate ourselves. The generosity of the American people has been felt around the globe. Many have thanked God for it, in many languages. Let us have a strong America, conducting open trade, travel, communication, and diplomacy with other nations.”
These words from Ron Paul’s web page regarding the issue of war are fairly reasonable. They certainly do not read like words from some nut case.
Gee, since the most important issue for me is the defense of this nation, it looks like Ron Paul is working hard to get my vote. Maybe we should turn over to the Chinese all of our anti-missile technology so they will like us more.
Seeking campaign funding from Iran no doubt.
We may disagree on other threads, but, I’m with you on this -
anyone that shouts “Death to America” should be taken at his word and acted against accordingly.
The fifth directly supports the first amendments prevention of the government preventing the free exercise of religious practice.
Most others involve the equal protection clause.. I can get into a lot more detail if you would like..
As I’ve said often, Paul seems to use his own interpretation of the Dummies Guide to the Constitution as his own little Munchhausen by Proxy for Conservatism, allowing it not to grow by small steps- opting for an all or nothing mentality.
This ground has been covered numerous times, but it's fun to play. Congress voted an Authorization for Use of Military Force , authorizing the President to undertake military action against Iraq.
Paul understands that, and I'm sure would acknowledge the Constitutionality of that action.
If not, then the Authorization for Use of Military Force , authorizing the President to undertake military action against Afghanistan would be unconstitutional as well.
Paul voted for it, he never votes for anything unless authorized by the Constitution, so both Authorizations are fine.
They sound like the words of some idiot sitting in a lazy boy recliner with absolutely no knowledge of what it takes to lead a nation and survive the complex nature of geopolitics.
Ron Paul would rather we be Switzerland, which is nothing.
But it’s not a “declaration of war” unless Congress says “we declare war on X country” - so say the moonbats.
I think you have to spin around three times and throw dog poop on their shoes, too, to make it official.
Often said?
First time I read it this way but it's worth repeating.
Well done.
“Under no circumstances should the U.S. again go to war as the result of a resolution that comes from an unelected, foreign body, such as the United Nations.
Again, Paul shows his ignorance. The Constitution in several places that we are to honor treaties. It also specifically states that Congress is authorized to define and punish offenses against the laws of nations. Sure, we should never be governed by a body like the UN, but there is nothing that says we can't us a body like the UN as a tool (laws of nations.)
OK, often may be a stretch.. maybe four or five posts, but they are normally long posts, does that count?
It makes one wonder if Iraq should just start “re-patriating” all those weapons captured from al-Qaeda in Iraq that were supplied from Iran.
If I remember correctly, the wind there generally blows from West to East. Therefore, several balloons, each with a cargo of weapons and ammunition, could be launched from Iraq with Iran as the destination. Those weapons might allow the Iranian people to break the chains imposed on them by their greedy “leaders”.
LMFAO!
Sure it counts, but to be honest, I don’t get to read every word of every post that you publish, but please keep it up.
