Is it the one Im thinking of with the very large cooling towers on the St. Johns River?I think you're thinking of the coal fired plant in Palatka.

Cool! I lived in Orange Park for the first 9 years of my life. Was born in a hospital in Mandarin, and attended Elementary school at Lakeside. Small world. Moved to Atlanta and have been here 16 years.

Sounds like burn back caused by bridging in the feed silo, if that is the cause the operator is a dumb ass.

JACKSONVILLE, FL-- Rescue crews are responding to a huge explosion on New Berlin and Faye Road. We are told at least 4 people have been transported to the hospital.
Our cameras saw a ball of fire shooting up into a huge cloud of black smoke.
Callers near the scene say the explosion shook their cars.
One caller who works at the JEA plant nearby says officials told him it was a chemical explosion and workers are being evacuated.
Other witnesses have called First Coast News and said they were also told to get out.
A spokesperson for the Holiday Inn on New Berlin road says that the front doors were blown off their hinges and that they can smell the smoke. She says the smoke as a strange odor but that they have not yet been told to evacuate.
Stay with First Coast News and Firstcoastnews.com for continuing coverage.
