Year of global cooling
The Washington Times ^ | December 19, 2007 | David Deming

Posted on 12/19/2007 2:55:52 AM PST by Puzzleman

Al Gore says global warming is a planetary emergency. It is difficult to see how this can be so when record low temperatures are being set all over the world. In 2007, hundreds of people died, not from global warming, but from cold weather hazards...

Enviro wackos are backing themselves into a blind alley, from which there will be no exit.

They can try to cya with climate "change", but they still recommend actions to reduce warming.

And what if they're wrong? Suppose the earth is cooling and they get their wish to accelerate that cooling and we leave ourselves seriously exposed to the cold with not enough energy to warm ourselves. There'll be hell to pay.

When their dorms are regulated to 55 degrees in the winter and 85 degrees in the spring/fall.

When they cannot use electricity or afford batteries for their microwaves, mini fridges, computers, Ipods, DVD players and video game players.

When they are forced to walk or bike because there is no gasoline they can afford and the roads are too snow covered for motorcycles because there isn’t enough diesel for the plows.

When their parents inform them they will have to support themselves because the family’s jobs have been impacted by the cost of energy regulations.

But, mostly, when their professors cannot afford to heat their homes or drive to work and are forced to teach in
55 —85 degree classrooms while paying extra taxes on everything, while Democrats are in control of the country.

I have been saying for awhile that the younger generation is going to force us all into extreme misery that will only abate when they have experienced it themselves.

It is going to have to get much worse before they wise up.

Excellent point.

It reminds me of a recent Michael Bronne interview on C-Span in which he said, in essence, younger voters are more sympathetic to government interference with the market because none of them were old enough to remember the economic disasters of the 1970’s.

It’ll probably take another round of 14% home mortgage rates, 12% inflation, and hours-long gas lines before they Gen Y’ers truly understand just how much the Democrats can destroy an economy.

The Arctic is refreezing at record rates and the Antarctic ice pack is larger than 1979. Burn more wood and petrochemicals and demand tax credits for 8 bangers!

I don't know about that. I believe he kind of likes me. Compared to Him I am without a doubt an idiot.

The arthur David Deming is a geophysicist. That's the problem right there! David Deming is not a graduate student of the Goracle School of Climate Theology.

The punch line of this article is in the final two paragraphs:

If you think any of the preceding facts can falsify global warming, you're hopelessly naive. Nothing creates cognitive dissonance in the mind of a true believer. In 2005, a Canadian Greenpeace representative explained “global warming can mean colder, it can mean drier, it can mean wetter.” In other words, all weather variations are evidence for global warming. I can't make this stuff up.

Global warming has long since passed from scientific hypothesis to the realm of pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo.

I guess you didnt hear , This Global cooling is being caused by GLOBAL WARMING!!!

I just love that logic. They can have it both ways and because the media is in bed with them they get a free pass, no one to challenge them. (except us)

Some excerpts from the mid 1970s Global cooling concerns. - Tom

Newsweek-April 28, 1975

The Cooling World
There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production– with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now.snip

The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it.snip

Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve. But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food or of introducing the variables of climatic uncertainty into economic projections of future food supplies. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality.

Brilliant and succinct; I’m surprised major media printed it, LOLOL!

Haven't you heard? The Washington Times is the Fox News of the newspaper world. IOW, it's a tool of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. The rest of the MSM says so..... it must be true.

All the extra fuels we'll be burning to stay warm should heat thing up.

Global temps have been stagnant, or actually declining slightly since 2000.

Among folks who haven't drunk the Kool-Aid, some think we may be headed into a little ice age type event.
