Jeanne Assam, the heroine of the New Life Church shooting in Colorado Springs, would likely have been unable to carry the Beretta that she stopped the shooting with if she had been a licensed security guard.
An AP article published on 12 December noted that licensed security guards in Colorado Springs are restricted to the use of revolvers.
As Jeanne Assam was a volunteer parishioner who was performing security guard duties because the church did not want to hire mercenaries, she was almost certainly not affected by the regulations, which only apply to government regulated security guards.
Fortunately, her lack of official status with the state and city allowed her to carry a firearm with sufficient firepower to accomplish the necessary task.
Jeannette had to fire 10 rounds to keep her fellow parishoners safe.

Jeanette’s real identity is Deborah...the only female Judge from the book of Judges,.... and a feisty one at that!

The regulation applies only to those who work as paid contract security officers, city spokeswoman Sue Skiffington-Blumberg said.
I'm really not too sure about this "city spokeswoman"... She's new or something, because I'd never heard of her before. Here's some information on her though.
Sue Skiffington-Blumberg
Public Communications Division Director, Administration, City of Colorado Springs, Colorado
Also, I'd not be so quick to believe that she actually SAID that. I'm betting she was misquoted.

I would be glad to but the top end training facilities are sometimes a little pricey starting out, I didn't start at the top I worked my way up there.
I don't know where you live but usually alot can be gained by talking to local gun clubs. They would know what is going on near you and don’t sell these local courses off I took one here put on by a local gun club that one instructor was the county prosecuting attorney and one was an active swat team member the best of both worlds. We did alot of shooting in very low light and needless to say my favorite Glock and 1911 now have night sights and the advice from both was priceless. Courses like that are usually inexpensive then you have a foundation to build on and can move up to the Gunsights and Thunder Ranch that is my next stop.
