This is so freaking incredible. At first I thought this was a story about muslims being offended but it turns out to be several (two?) Hispanics.
"We were really unaware of any negative connotations with the word 'pork chop,"' he said. "If it offended a few, it's a few too many."
Talk about instant caving to PC pressure.
How much longer before major grocery stores are sued because they sell a product named with this derogatory word?

Only if it’s offensive to white Christians will it be allowed.

Actually, I think Ferrous is cuter.
Still, I can’t figure out why Pork Chop is offensive.

Offensive to hispanics? Here in Toronto we used the term for the Portuguese.

They 86’ed Pork Chop but kept the name Iron Pigs? Might as well name the mascot Muhammed.

... "If it offended a few, it's a few too many." ... Can anyone else see the real problem with this bromide? With the "professional victim" hucksters we have out there today, if you try hard enough, almost everyone can be offended by something. So I guess organized society better not do anything, out of fear of offending someone. Going to work everyday? Why, that offends professional slackers. Better not do any work. Drive a car? Oh, my God, you're destroying the Earth! The Luddites are gravely offended. Breathing the air? Geez, what gives you that right over some animal who might be better off if they could breath your air? The PETA folks are offended. You exist? Why, that offends me, we'd better do away with you. If not offending someone is your moral code, not much else for you to do but lay down and die.

As an American of Irish descent, I demand that the racist "Mick"ey Mantle statue be removed from Yankees Stadium.
Too many of my poor oppressed ancestors were called "Mick" for me to tolerate such a deliberate insult.

I went to high school with a kid who had one black parent and one hispanic parent. He went by the nickname "Pork Chop". Never seemed to bother him.
so now they go to Ferrous. They'll need an explanation in the game program to help at least 70% of the fans understand the relation of ferrous to iron.
