They showed the response to Thompson's answer and the expert said that it was as close to PERFECT as he's ever seen!
Thompson said that we should ENFORCE enforce our borders.
And Fox says that Thompson is on the side of America on this issue

I'm 3100 miles away. How about just telling the plain truth about the Confederate Flag? It was designed by a democrat, woven by a democrat, and flown by a democrat for the first time. It is a completeley democrat flag.
Why are Republicans being asked about what democrats did to Blacks?
BTTT!
I can’t find the report. Do you have a more direct link than foxnews.com?
There is another point about Thompson. He is the only one besides Romney, Rudy and the Huckster that left elective office to pursue other work.
Fred Thompson’s Border Security and Immigration Reform Plan:

Enforce our borders?
Do you mean “enforce our border laws”
Dane, who are you voting for this primary?
” It was actually Frank Luntz who, in the past was a Rudy supporter.. next conspiracy..”
What...!? Facts...no...you can’t do that!

15 years ago, I'd take that bet in a heartbeat. Now, I think people have been taught by the media that it means racism. Amazing how effective the media has been in putting that in society's collective heads.
From your lips to God’s ears. :>)
It was on-air.
Someone in one of the earlier posts gives the guys name.
Yeah, I think the same is true for Reverend Sharpton.
Thank you for your post!
I can totally believe that what you state is the case.
The last three. They were based on economic independence from the north with foreign trading partners for products. It was a resistance movement.
Thanks for posting the transcript on the gays in the military question — I caught CNN’s replay, and they apparently cut out that whole section because of the Hillary connection.
The part of the debate that really struck me was the contrast between Thompson’s and Romney’s responses on social security and spending. Thompson answered convincingly and with specifics; Romney completely dodged the question and went into meaningless platitudes. For me, a small-government conservative, that was Romney’s absolute worst, most telling answer of the night:
Adam Florzak: This is Adam Florzak of Illinois. The national debt is now growing so quickly it will have increased by over half- million dollars in just the time it takes to ask this question. Over the years, politicians have borrowed just under $2 trillion from the Social Security trust fund to cover these massive budget deficits, and now the retirements of our generation are at risk. What will you do as president to help repay this money and restore the trust?
Cooper: Senator Thompson, a lot of retirees here in Florida. Ninety seconds.
Thompson: One of the things I would do for his generation is protect him from our generation.
(Applause)
He’s absolutely right, we’re spending his money, we’re spending his children’s money, and we’re spending the money of kids yet to be born.
In 2017, Social Security will be in the red. Pretty soon it’ll be out of money, it’ll go bankrupt. In fact, our entitlement programs put together will take over the entire budget by about 2040.
So that’s why I get back to the point I made earlier. All these programs that we talk about in the news every day are a thimbleful in ocean compared to the entitlement tsunami that’s coming to hit us.
Now, we can do some things now, as I’ve proposed about Social Security, without having to really hurt anybody, and give people to invest for their future while they’re still working. Or we can wait and let our grandkids or children, depending on how old they are, solve this problem that we have left them. It’s not only a fiscal issue; it’s a moral issue, as far as I’m concerned.
Cooper: Governor McCain?
(Applause)
I’m sorry — Governor Romney, 30 seconds.
Romney: Thank you.
That’s one of the problems we face, and a big one, which is the over-spending in Washington and the debt and the obligations we have.
We also face tough new competition coming from Asia. We face global jihad, which we just talked about very briefly. We face a whole series of extraordinary problems — over-use of oil, entitlement is out of control.
It’s time for us to recognize we’re going to have to take a new course in this country — not follow Hillary Clinton off to the left; instead, to follow the pathway Ronald Reagan blazed, which is to say we’re going to have a stronger America with a stronger economy and have somebody who understands how jobs come and go, who understands what propels our economy, will strengthen our economy, strengthen our military and strengthen our families.
“Thompson: One of the things I would do for his generation is protect him from our generation.”
Frank Luntz said that Fred benefited the most from the debate and that during the entitlement part that the dials of his focus group were shooting high when Fred was speaking, Fred won that issue.
Here is video of the “gay” part of the debate.

Here is another thread that mentions the debate.

Sappy phrases? I suppose that you don't think securing our border is important? That preserving our sovereignty isn't important? That restoring our industrial base isn't important? You don't think that protecting the unborns is important? You don't think that Christian family values are important? You don't think that putting America's interest first is important? Are you that apathetic? Surely you're not. Neither am I, so I support Duncan Hunter.
If Duke Cunningham, the DP2 plane, and McMillin development in San Diego is the best that you can come up with to discredit Duncan Hunter, that's pretty pathetic. Duncan Hunter has never been implicated in the Duke Cunningham/Brent Wilkes congressional bribery scandal. More than 100 other members of the House and Senate Republicans and Democrats also accepted money from Wilkes, former MZM Inc. president Mitchell Wade, their relatives, employees or political action committees, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a campaign watchdog group. In December 2005, Hunter directed that the contributions his campaign received from Wilkes and Wade be given to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. If anything that Hunter was guilty of, was putting American interest first. In this case, Duncan Hunter was for an American company instead of the German based company to get the contract. Hunter remained an advocate the American-made product of Tom Casey's Audre. Hunter asked the Pentagons chief purchasing officer to whenever possible, use products that are made in the United States by American taxpayers. Hunter was never found to be involved with the Duke Cunningham scandal and never took any bribe.
Regarding the Dupont Aerospace DP2 Vectored Thrust Aircraft, Hunter testified before the Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight of the Committee on Science and Technology. Yes, the DP-2 program was scrubbed, but the committee found no conflict of interest on Hunter's part. Again, if there was anything Duncan Hunter was guilty of was putting American military interests first. In his unyielding support for our military to be equipped with superior technology, Hunter believed that if the DP-2 worked out, it would have been able to transport troops as fast as 724 mph, more than twice as fast as the V-22 Osprey and four times as fast as the CH-46 helicopter that are currently being used. If perfected, the DP-2 could fly 2,500 nautical miles, several times the range of the CH-46 helicopter, which is being replaced by the V-22 Osprey. Here's a copy of his testimony before the Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight of the Committee on Science and Technology so that you can better how earmarks for projects work.
Regarding the McMillin land development deal in San Diego, yes Duncan Hunter, who was chairman of the military procurement subcommittee, helped to draft the bill that carried the no-cost provision for military land. It opened a window of time during which San Diego and 20 other municipalities got land for free from the Navy. Isn't one the job of a Congressman is to get favorable fundings for your constituency for local projects? Call it pork barrel politics if you like but when the Navy had no further need for the old Naval Training Center in Point Loma San Diego, Duncan Hunter was able to get the land for free for the city. However, the decision to go with McMillin, a local San Diego company that had been there for 40 yrs., vs. Lennar Corp., a publicly traded company based in Florida, was a local decision made by the city council. The city gave due consideration to a local developer. Big whoopteedooo. There's nothing illegal here, move on Bub.
