WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney experienced an irregular heartbeat Monday and will be evaluated at George Washington University Hospital.
The condition was detected when Cheney was seen by doctors for a lingering cough from a cold.
"During examination he was incidentally found to have an irregular heartbeat, which on further testing was determined to be atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart," said spokeswoman Megan Mitchell.
But the headline at DU reads, “Cheney has a heartbeat!!!”
(that’s a joke)
DU is a joke. I knew that.
See Dick Cheney is all right LOL!

That’s good news. I certainly did not think it would be that big a deal when I left her in ICU for them to do the shock procedure. She was having quite a bit of respiratory distress and ghad 2 blockages they knew about form 2 uyears ago.

“No one. President would appoint someone and the Senate must confirm.”
Either Bolton or Oliver North.
Doug, and they are P&!(&s enough to do it.
And dopes like Russert and Matthews would love the constitutional crisis and the play by play, and we couldn't get their fat faces and their $&1+ eatin' grins of the freakin TV screen.
Please, stop this bad dream....
This has been a well kept secret due to possible patent infringement. Actually Cheneys heartbeat is similar to that of a Harley twin at idle.
Prayers Up.
Confirmation is not required. Either House of Congress can reject the nomination or refuse to vote on it. In 1973 a group of House Democrats tried to convince Speaker Carl Albert to block a vote on Gerald Ford's nomination for VP so if President Nixon was forced out (as he was) Albert would take command. Albert rejected such an idea, but would San Fran Nan?
Also, the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 is Constitutionally dubious at best. If there was a double vacancy, there would be a Constitutional Crisis.
I would not make a lot out of this. Cheney’s heart has been kept together with spit and baling wire for years and the plain fact is he is too mean to die.
I keep thinking about how a couple of years ago Bush made a joke at Cheney's expense, he followed it up with, "I'm just kidding Dick, the vice- President is actually a nice guy and he has a really good...ah.....well, he's a nice guy."
That got a bigger laugh than the first joke.
Oh, dear. I hate to hear this but I’m ever so happy they’ve found it. Vice President Cheney and his family will be in my prayers.
“This will come to a shock to the libs, they have always said he never had a heart.”
It’s going to come to a shock for Cheney’s heart too.
First of all, I hope the Vice President gets well soon. Prayers for him and best wishes.
With all the hell Bolton has been giving the Bush administration since his departure at the UN, why would Bush nominate him? Nevermind that he couldn’t muster the Senate votes to get conifirmed to the ambassador post. I just don’t see it happening.
Oliver North - good one!
No, if it went that far Bush would likely appoint some respected former governor or senator or secretary of state. Tom Ridge, Rick Santorum, and James Baker III come to mind.
I thought he had a divice put in that if irregular heartbeat was detected it would correct it?
Prayers for the Vice President and his family. Mr. Cheney is a good, strong man.
Never said it wasn't a big deal. My point is there is life after (or during) a-fib which is not a "heart attack" and does not require by-passes or pace makers (unless you have the SA node obliterated).
