Wow! Actually, last week at a conference I met a very pious and good priest who is truly devoted to Cdl O’Malley and thinks he’s very spiritual and is doing great things in Boston. I know a lot of people here don’t like him because he has closed churches - and I am opposed to that, too - but it seems that he must be doing something right. This priest, btw, is very traditionalist and has fought to keep his parish orthodox and to keep the physical layout of the church exactly as that of a Catholic church should be.

My 93 year old aunt, born and raised in Boston (Southie, for those familiar with Boston) is as Catholic as you can imagine someone to be.I'll skip the details but you've gotta trust me here.In discussing politics and her lifelong support of the RAT Party,I pointed out many things to her about today's RATs...their love of abortion and abortionists, their unfailing support for homosexual "marriage",etc, etc, etc. Her response..."well,that may be true but the RAT Party gives me my social security checks".

What can I say,folks...I tried.

He might want to check in with the socialist governor of MD, Martin O’Malley. Raising taxes, spending growing at 7%, supporting gay marriages, and drivers licenses are already flowing to illegals.

Maybe think about the Pallotine brothers who controlled real estate for their own benefit in East Baltimore back in the ‘70s?

Turn over all the rocks, not just one. Like the queer priests and what’s the total settlement so far?

Remember, abortion was made illegal when the AMA made it a cause, not the Catholic church.

And BTW, I was a Catholic, gave up going to church for lent.

Cardinal Sean P. O'Malley of Boston, saying the Democratic Party has been persistently hostile to opponents of abortion rights, asserted yesterday that the support of many Catholics for Democratic candidates "borders on scandal."

B-16 must have had a talk with the man. This is not like him.

Democratic National Committee spokesman Damien LaVera defended the party, which he called "a big tent party," and he pointed out that there are 104 Catholic Democrats currently serving in Congress, including two who are vocal opponents of abortion rights, Senator Robert P. Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania and Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio.

Oh, so it must be true then...NOT! The Democratic is not a big tent party on abortion, but an almost monolithic pro-abortion party, and the so-called "Catholic" politicians like the two senators of our state, Kennedy and Kerry, are among the most pro-abortion of the lot. I think it just reflects poorly on them that their faith means so little to them. And Senator Casey voted against the anti-abortion Mexico City policy, and his father, who was a true pro-lifer, was not even allowed to speak at a Democratic Presidential convention because of his anti-abortion stand.

Cardinal O’Malley is a no-nonsense, true leader of the church. In nine short months he brought order back to our Palm Beach Diocese which had been rocked by not one, but two sex scandals involving sitting bishops in our diocese. He is a true priest and one who is a shining light of hope for the future of the church.

He's right. Note he's saying this about the voters not the politicians.

Unfortunately, the Catholic hierarchy here in Boston has been so quiet for so long, Cardinal Sean's remarks were largely ignored by said Democrats.

From a weekly email from State House News Service,

"Finally, in a tangentially related story and under the heading of Holy Mackerel, Things Have Changed Around Here: Barely surfacing as an issue were Cardinal Sean Patrick O’Malley’s remarks to the Boston Globe that called Democratic support for abortion rights borderline scandalous. Time was, such criticism from the Chancery would have rattled the State House right to its Puritanical rebar.

This week, with political power so thoroughly dislocated from the Roman Catholic hierarchy, there wasn’t a flinch.

Asked about the level of concern with the cardinal’s remarks, Murray replied, “I haven’t talked to anybody about it, so I don’t know whether they’re concerned or not.” And there was your answer."

Oh, BTW, the Legislature just expanded the no-protest zones around abortion clinics...

Finally! Cardinal O'Malley had been so outspoken regarding the abortion slaughter prior to his installation as cardinal. I'm glad that he's speaking out again. Sadly, this will fall on deaf ears, but at least his conscience will be clear! And hopefully this will encourage more priests to speak out.

I'm sure that the devil has been enjoying this silence.

Obvious that the mostly Roman Catholic population of Boston are pro-abortion since they all vote for Democrats.

But the Catholic population here uses the Church for Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Funerals.

Used to be a running joke that the Catholics and their priests (lots of drunks) could do any they wanted during the week then be absolved by the Sacrament of Penance (Confession) on Saturday.

Now the priest in my parish is lucky to fill up 20 benches at the cathedral style church. And, the demographic is mostly Latino.
