Cheering crowd attends disputed ordination of two women as priests

ST. LOUIS — To the Roman Catholic Church, the ceremony was not an ordination. In fact, it wasn't even Roman Catholic. But to two women and the approximately 600 people who came to cheer them on, history was made Sunday in St. Louis as the two became the first women ever in the city to be ordained as Catholic priests.

And the first ever, perhaps in the world, to be ordained in a synagogue.

Rose Marie Hudson, 67, of Festus, and Elsie Hainz McGrath, 69, of St. Louis, were ordained as priests by an organization called Roman Catholic Womenpriests, which defines itself "as an international initiative within the Roman Catholic Church."

Not only is the Archdiocese of St. Louis upset about the women participating in an ordination ceremony, but the church and others in the interfaith community were upset that the Central Reform Congregation, in the Central West End, hosted the event.

"The event of today is really very sad because the name Roman Catholic has been misused and misapplied," said Dr. Lawrence J. Welch, a Kenrick-Glennon Seminary theology professor. "There's been no ordination of Roman Catholic priests. In fact, there has been a profaning of something Roman Catholics believe is very sacred."

I was very disappointed that the Jewish temple permitted this

Reform "jews" are not real Jews. they are as phony as are these women "priests".

"The Catholic Church is now allowing women to be priests? When did I miss this? I need to go to mass more often if I am that out of touch."

Need to do more than that if you think the Church is permitting this...

Getting Catholics upset is the purpose of the media even printing this article. This ceremony has less relevance than the appointment of a new city dog catcher. But the papers print this stuff because it stirs up controversy and upsets decent people.

Apparently the scumbag media whores were successful yet again.

No way should females be priests.

We would not ever attend a Church with a female pastor. Guess we are just old fashioned.

The Catholic Church is now allowing women to be priests?

That's what the article wants us to think.

Me, I'm with Pope Fiero on this, we should kick the bums out!

Roman Catholic Womenpriests, which defines itself "as an international initiative within the Roman Catholic Church."

A long definition for "a bunch of nobodies with zero standing and even less influence."

OK so I am not a Catholic, and I do NOT know anything about this event, however, what am I suppose to think about the prophecy recorded in Joel 2:28-32 to occur and quoted in Acts 2:17???

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that *I* will pour out My spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your *DAUGHTERS* shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in *THOSE DAYS* will I pour out My spirit.

Roman Catholic Womenpriests, which defines itself "as an international initiative within the Roman Catholic Church."

"... as an international heretical division from the Roman Catholic Church." There ... all fixed.

No, the Roman Catholic Church is not allowing women to become priests. There is no recognized organization within the Roman Catholic Church called, Roman Catholic Womenpriests.

*POOF*, you’re an Arch Bishop. Anybody else need ordained while we’re at it? I’m not exactly Catholic but that didn’t seem to stop these women.

Cool. Does this mean freepers can select a “democratic nominee” for President and expect fawning media coverage?

The Montanists did similar stuff back in the 200s. And how many Montanists live in your parish nowadays?

You are so right: the heresies and adherents eventually die off and are forgotten by all except Justice. At one time centuries ago, Arianists almost succeeded in hijacking the Church. Nearly all bishops professed that heresy as the truth, yet it failed.

Note that these two heretical women are in their sixth decade of life. They will also soon be gone and forgotten.

Every day there are people trying to invent religions to suit themselves. This case is no different. I can declare myself to be a “Minister” who supports any ridiculous policy “in the name of God” and get plenty of fawning media coverage. Big deal. Do these clowns have it all figured out? I doubt it!
