Hi folks!

I know it’s been a long time since posting. I was thinking of you today and wanted to share a few things with you.

As some of you know I live near Ft. Hood. One of the many article in our paper dedicated to our veterans was titled “Veterans spend the day with students.” The kids put on an event for some of our local vets. One of the parents in attendance was quoted.

“After spending a year in Iraq defending a country that doesn't always appreciate what you do, it’s nice to come home and see the people that do,”

Another parent soldier stated, “I’d like to believe we are all still true patriots of this country.”

Command Sgt. Maj. Lawrence Wilson, who was there when his soldiers captured Saddam Hussein asked the kids how many had family members in Iraq. About half the kids raised their hands. He thanked the students for their immense sacrifice at such a young age.

This information was taken from the Killeen Daily Harold.

I’d like to add, that I am so very inspired and humbeled by the wives and children of these deployed young men. Our church and the kids schools are full of the spouses and kids of deployed soldiers. I never hear these women complain. They are busy tending to their kids, they wear a smile. My four year old’s teacher and her three sons just welcomed home their soldier. They are very proud of their soldier and his service.

My girls play with the child of a Major who is deployed. I heard my girls say, “ My daddy is a fire fighter.”
Their friend replied proudly, “My daddy is a soldier and he’s fighting in Iraq!”
I made a point to tell their little friend, “That is even better than being a fire fighter.”

Our kids are not sheltered from this war. We are surrounded by these soldiers and their families. We like it that way. We are very proud of our soldiers and their families. We love our community. WE SUPPORT THE MISSION.
WE WANT OUR SOLDIERS TO WIN.

To all our soldiers past and present. My family prays for you every evening. We love and appreciate you. We love our country. We feel blessed to live here. We know that we owe it all to you.

God Bless and keep you. God Bless the Canteen and all those who dedicate so much time to keeping it going.

Good evening!!!

Long time, no see—and it is wonderful to finally have you
“visit”. I know you have been SO busy with your family. I
trust that they are all growing and thriving.

God bless you and thank you for all that you do as a first
responder and as a supporter of the troops AND a vet!

(((hugs)))
