BAGHDAD, Nov. 7 American forces have routed Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, the Iraqi militant network, from every neighborhood of Baghdad, a top American general said today, allowing American troops involved in the surge to depart as planned.
Maj. Gen. Joseph F. Fil Jr., commander of United States forces in Baghdad, also said that American troops had yet to clear some 13 percent of the city, including Sadr City and several other areas controlled by Shiite militias. But, he said, theres just no question that violence had declined since a spike in June.
Murder victims are down 80 percent from where they were at the peak, and attacks involving improvised bombs are down 70 percent, he said.
General Fil attributed the decline to improvements in the Iraqi security forces, a cease-fire ordered by the Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr, the disruption of financing for insurgents, and, most significant, Iraqis rejection of the rule of the gun.

Why would the NYT do a flip on US winning the Iraq war?
Look at Nacy Pelosi's new move to set a withdrawal of troops date!
The NYT aricle is in support of Pelosi, "we have won, so its time to bring the troops home!" Nice touch for the Xmas season.
Pelosi's job is to hang the withdrawal on President Bush, because they think Hitlery is going to be president, and Hitlery wants it over when she supposedly becomes president.
Well, we know that ho won't go!
We will be in Iraq for 20 to 40 years. Just like we had to be in Europe until the Sovietskis stood down.

When we bring these guys home, don’t disband the units. It’s time for them to utilize these tactics in Detroit, Gary, East LA, Camden, East St. Louis, Westside Chicago....

Oh my, I did see it in some kind of montage, but couldn't’t figure out what was going on. Now it is obvious semblances to raising the flag (IMO) over Iwo Jima.

Oinkers flying all over the place. Even the slime balls cannot forever hold good news back. They sense the tide has really turned.
Now they will have to double their efforts in how to present editorials that make it seem like the demorates where the ones that made this victory possible. Hopefully the voters will see this time around they are liers.

You are right. All along I have believed that the major reason the Dems and liberals have opposed Bush on the Iraq war is that they have been afraid he would be right and we would succeed. They could not stand that success from another Bush. So they have tried everything they could to demean the administration, the military leaders, the reasons for the war...all to get people hyped up to be negative so they could force Bush (they hoped) to pull out. Or...to drag things on until the effort got close to success so that the next administration (which they hoped would be Democrat) could end it during their term and claim the victory.
They just could not stand to see us succeed over there while under a Republican leadership - even if it means taking money from our military!
Their whole anti-war campaign was not actually against the war...just against Bush winning it and not them! IMHO

the economy sucks! It's the economy!__________________
I caught just a glimpse of some Democrat being interviewed on TV today and being asked: Do you think the current economic downturn is because of the Democrat leadership we now have in control and that nothing that was promised is being done? Of course the answer was "No, it is not the Democrats, it is the Bush administration."
I just wish the interviewer had then asked..."Well, then why is it that when the Republicans had control, the economy was (and has been for so long) so good? Who's fault is that?"

What economic downturn?
What increase in global warming?
Why doesn’t anyone question the lie in the premise of these stupid questions?

They practically wrote the story in code (I doubt even NYTimes readers know what Mesopotamia is), they buried it on A19, they put quotes around the word surge (as though they doubt it happened), and they only quoted the part where the General credits the Iraqis, not our troops, for the success. Freakin libs.

The NYT has now done its duty in being “fair-minded” and fending off claims of being OP-ED LIBERAL everywhere on its news pages. It will now proceed for the next year to publish strictly one sided stories on Hillary Clinton and the entire campaign process, figuring its earned the right to do so.

The NYSlimes has finally realized that “Defeat in Iraq” is a losing issue for the dems because the American people don’t want to lose and don’t want Iraq to turn into a bloodbath for the Iraqi people, so the Slimes wants it off the table. Now they’re going to turn all their attention to talking us into a recession.
