I didn't immediately realize, as I made my way through the enrollment lines at college, how much it was going to cost me to live in Pasadena. My college had no dormitories so all students had to find off campus housing and transportation to get to get to school. Tuition averaged $11,000.00 per semester and the school ran 3 continuous semesters per year.
In a sincere effort to fund my education, I turned to my college financial aid office, where advisors never even suggested federal funding or grants etc. . They simply directed me to private loan companies, who were more than wiling to lend me twenty thousand dollars when I needed it; which was each semester. It was a smooth process.
His story weaves the same sorts of lies I have heard from con men many, many times before. Anyone who contributs to this dolt deserves the ripoff.
“Art Center College of Design-...Joe!, there’s enough clay flower pots in the world!....get a job!
somewhat smoggy.....Angeles crest deadends now at the point where highway 39 came up from San Gabriel canyon. From the other way I don’t think it gets much past Buckhorn Pass (from Wrightwood).
...and plumbers still make top dollar.
A plumber just charged my sister $500 to replace the rubber flappers in two toilets!
The military will help you out. That is the way I paid for mine. USAF 66-70
What a loser. I never knew that anyone actually aspired to direct TV commercials. I always thought that was the kind of job you failed your way to when you were washed up as a real director. Who knew?
Hello,
Thanx for all the support.
I was 18 when i decided to go to film school. And had just won the pinnacle award for film.. There is only one given out a year.
If I didn’t go to film school, it would have been like winning the national science fair and saying, “eat it” to Harvard.
Art Center College of Design...
responsible for 50% of car designs in the world... chances are, you are driving a vehicle with some parts, interior or exterior designed by AN ART CENTER GRAD!!!!
do your research!
Well excuse me Mario!
A plumber just charged my sister $500 to replace the rubber flappers in two toilets!....No Way!...it’s a $3.00 part. Maybe he misplaced a decimal?
Did I read this right? He had some sort of heart surgery and it took him 12 months to recover? My 75 yr. old Dad had a heart valve replaced, and he was up and going in a few days, then back to normal in a few weeks.
My niece was a National Merit Scholar and won her state’s science compitetion. She got pre-acceptance to Harvard. but she told them to “eat it”.
Got scholarship to UVA and her mother moved to VA so that she could get in-state tuition the last 2 years.
It’s all about the choices.
P.S. I went to Pitt. It cost me $450.00 per year, but that was 1967.
It’s all about timing too!
If so, then I have a little symapthy for you, but only to the degree that I know how hard it is to pay off a large debt.
Once you take the debt on yourself, the thing to do is pay it off, no matter what job you have to take to do it.
as you can see, many have not read your full story. they are unaware of the medical side of things.
that being said, expect no sympathy at this site. personal responsibility is paramount here at FR.
i do sympathize with you, but i feel your mistake (as you now know) was not doing enough research into gov't grants.
hindsight is 20/20. would it have been so hard to take a year, find some work and then go to school? i am sure you made some film contacts through your award.
anyway, you now have a much different problem. i wish you luck. however, if you are as talented as the award would imply, you will come out on top. talent always finds a way.
You’re really the Joe of this post and signed up to defend your foolishness? ROFL
ps. life does suck on occasion. How you deal with it shows your character. You sound like you believe that you were owed a top job because you went to “design school”
Your stay on FR will probably be short.
No...he was just a damn crook taking advantage of an elderly widow. She has contacted the Better Business Bureau and her state representative about it to make complaints, but so far, has not received a refund.
check out #49. Joe signed up to defend himself. Got some stones. I’ll give him that.
i don’t understand. you posted the article. did you read it? his entire dilemma revolves around a severe medical issue beyond his control. minus that, he would not be in his current debt. see my post #55.
Well a big duh there Joe. You must a white boy. Next time, make a big point to tell them you are of Puerto Rican descent. Whenever you fill out any future school/government paperwork, for gosh sakes man, do NOT check the "White" box. Got it?
Btw, if you think I'm joking, I am not. I know for absolute certainty that this has worked in California. A friend was denied student aid for computer school. He was bummed and not to happy. I asked him one question, what did he check on the Race box question. He said "white". I said "dude, isn't your mom Puerto Rican? He said "yea." I said "Go back and refill the form and make sure you check Hispanic or Puerto Rican if that is available." HE WAS APPROVED THE DAY AFTER HIS UPDATED APPLICATION WAS SUBMITTED.
