Pat Robertson, one of the nation's most influential Christian leaders, plans to endorse former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani today, the Politico has learned.
Giuliani has struggled to win support of social conservatives because of his moderate views on abortion and gay rights. But now he has one of the most resonant imprimaturs with Christian voters.
Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), meanwhile, plans to announce his surprise endorsement of former Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president on Wednesday, a campaign official told Politico.
The endorsement is to be announced in Dubuque, Iowa.
The alliance gives McCain once a front-runner, now struggling a crucial bridge to social conservatives, an important constituency that has remained suspicious of him despite his opposition to abortion.

right: I’m in total agreement. I grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. Even now Pat’s “700 Club” still airs regularly on several TV stations. Ever since I saw all of his “word of knowledge” hocus-pocus (i.e., envisioning people across the country being instantly healed by God—at Pat’s behest, of course) I concluded he’d ‘lost it’. So many christians are all messed up. I’ve been ‘saved’ since 1982..I’m the farthest thing from perfect, but sound theology has kept my head screwed on straight. I’d hope that everyone (christians in particular) would seek a candidate for office who’s upright and moral..who refuses to compromise on enduring, God-ordained principles like, “Do not murder” (Ex. 20:13). I’d investigate the Constitution Party and their platform; they’re both ‘rock solid’ regarding Biblically-based values. Chris ><>
I lost all respect for Pat Robertson a few years ago when he announced on his show that he felt the Red Chinese’s one child policy was OK because they had a crisis on their hands of too many people and they had to deal with it somehow.
Of course, the one child policy means forced abortions if a woman gets pregnant with a second child.
Frankly, the fact that Rudy is running for office, der... for his own interest seems to make a little more sense to me than a supposed big electoral conspiracy between Hillary and Rudy.
Wake up and take the tinfoil off.
Registered Republicans who fail to vote the party line are RINOs? Well, yeah, I suppose that's true. After all, "Republican" is a label which barely suits me these days. It seems I'm not "moderate" enough.
As a candidate on the Liberal Line, of course.
I believe yours was the most creative expansion. ;-)
Yes, that’s always been the dilemma for conservatives. We have no home other than the Republican Party. After they sweet talk us about being for smaller government and lower taxes, and once we vote for them and they’re in office, those same republicans spend and regulate with the worst of the democrats.
Card-carrying liberal, no doubt-——seeing as Rudy despises conservatives, especially pro-life conservatives.
Snooty Rooty would not deign to suckup to anything but (gag) sicko liberals.
Maybe Pat will change the name to the 666 CLUB,,,!
Birds of a Feather as they say...
I think it’s a logical working definition.
I’m a registered Republican, I’ve never voted for a ‘rat. And voting 3rd party hasn’t gotten us anywhere, except stuck with a democrat in office. So, I pull the lever for the R. Call it a character flaw.
Robertson needs to fade to oblivion.
So, you'd vote for Al Gore if he put an "R" next to his name?
I'd call that something other than a charachter flaw.
Twersky was the family name of those who founded the town of Hillary’s donors (and Bill’s pardons), New Square, where four men stole millions from the federal government for a phony Jewish school. New Square Rabbi David Twersky had met with Hillary shortly before clemency was granted.
Any relation, I wonder?
Come on now ... they wouldn’t let Al Gore in the R party.
Okay, I’ll play. If his opponent (a democrat) was more conservative (and sane) I suppose I’d break my rule and vote D. But, remember this was just hypothetical.
Supporting the candidate of your choice, in a free country, can endanger your soul? Who knew?
Separation of church and state; how long ago was that?
A Wednesday, May 2, 2001 news report found 26 illegal votes contributed to "an overwhelming 1,400-to-12" vote for Hillary Clinton among New Square Hasidic residents.
The Daily News story headlined "Double Take In Ballot Probe---Voters With Same Name and Birthday Show Cracks In New York System." The report said one registrant who "voted in Brooklyn's Hasidic neighborhood of Williamsburg" in 1996 also voted in the same election "forty miles away in the Rockland County Hasidic community of Monsey."
New Square residents were upset about what they felt were gratuitous references to Hasidim and a picture captioned, "A Hasidic woman pushes two children past a yeshiva in New Square, Rockland County, where questions about votes for Sen. Hillary Clinton have emerged."
The story re alleged improper voter registrations for 26 New Square voters began with, "A Rockland County Hasidic community's overwhelming vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton was tainted by irregularities, a Daily News investigation has found."
The Daily News also reported that, "Several other New Square voters appeared to have current addresses in Hasidic communities in Brooklyn, Monsey in Rockland County and Monroe in Orange County.
Where is the WTF ALERT?!?!
I never would have imagined this. Not in a million years.
And just how did you come to know what is in Fred's belly? Can't the anti-FRed people think of anything else to say? lol
See the fig tree and it’s leaves blossoming.... Jesus is right at the door.
Not making excuses...just saying that is what he believes...and lots of people do too.
So why not be a stand up Christian and endorse Duncan Hunter..who is solid on both fronts?
