I can’t believe they named a performing arts center after that clown, hahaha.
How does one vandalize a statue of a rapper. Isn’t that redundant?
2Pac’s got some good stuff though. He was deep, I mean with his lyrics and the emotion he conveyed.
That was sarcasm right??
How can they be allowed to torture this statue?
“A spokeswoman for the center last week said she was told a noose was placed around the neck of the statue and the incident was being investigated as a hate crime.”
From the previous article:
“However, DeKalb County police spokesman Marcus Hodge said no noose was around Shakur’s neck, but rather an orange nylon string with a wooden cross attached. He added that the incidents are not being investigated as hate crimes.”
Which is it? See how quickly a piece of sting becomes a noose?
I admire him most for his courage. He had a lot of ball.
There is something in the water.
Exactly.
Seriously. He was one of the few rap stars who didn't just rap about the usual rap stuff. He's made songs that praised black women, songs about the community, and the violence he saw. His songs contained messages in them. He's written poetry even.
Not everyone here watches NASCAR and listens to Trace Adkins, OK?
No need for the Rev. Al Sharpton to save us all from racism then? Darn!
Whatever.
Wilson was charged Thursday with second-degree criminal damage to property, a felony.
A felony? C'mon, now! I hate vandalism as much as the next person but let's be reasonable here. This should not be a felony charge.
“2Pacalypse Now,” but this album was also the beginning of his notoriety as a leading figure of the gangsta permutation of hip-hop, with references to cop killing and sexual violence.<<
He glorified gang violence, and became the victim of the east coast/ west coast rap rivalry that killed Biggie Smalls too.
I didn't know Lynndie England moved to Atlanta.....
Indeed. He should invoke one of the possible libel/slander defenses, to wit, that the reputation was already tarnished at least as the level of the new allegations.
Unfortunately he did, but he had a different side. He was to rap what Kurt Cobain was to rock. I'd expand on the subject more but I won't waste the thread's time.
This was supposedly a "hate crime," so they piled on the charges. Surely there was nothing like felonious vandalism involved. Underwear on the head? Take it off. String around the neck? Remove it. Stickers on the statue? Take them off and wash off the glue.
Good grief, this was a stupid and annoying thing to do, but it's not a felony unless a certain amount of monetary damage was done. That doesn't seem possible. In other words, they faked up a felony crime purely because they thought it was white racism. Black racism? That's OK.
