Prayers needed for Tess the wonder dog...
That’s awesome, hope Tess pulls through.
What a great dog! Hope the little guy recovers.
You need to come and train my husband. *I* have to kill all the bugs and creepy things.
Yeah, one of my cats likes to lay on its back and play with snakes, tossing them around like big fat yarn. He leaves them on the front porch all clawed, dazed, and confused, but usually not completely dead.
I once visited a house in Philly on business (it was a rowhouse) and the next-door neighbor had a cat leashed to the stair handrail on the front porch. This thing was hissing and growling and stretching that leash like a rabid Doberman, trying to get at me. It was an attack cat! - - Never saw anything like it. Freaky scary.
Here’s an actual picture of dog and child he saved. cute, cute picture.

Prayers for the dog.
Not very likely. A cat would probably cut a deal with the snake to divvy up the old lady's things after she croaked from snakebite.
I like cats, and my kids had a long succession of them when they were at home. But cats don't have any great love for people the way many dogs seem to have, and would like for us to just feed and shelter them and otherwise leave them alone.
Aww, and I just fussed at one of my babies tonight for being a pain in the rear. I’m tired, been driving all day, and my setter wanted to run in and out the door every 10 minutes.
I’m going to go hug her now. She’d fight a snake, or a gorilla for that matter, to save me from harm.
Ummm...I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but these are actually two different events, but both were reported (and posted by myself here at FR) on the same day!
In the story in this thread, the dog is a "Kelpie" (an Australian sheepdog) whereas in the other story the dog is a Doberman.
I knew that there would be some confusion between the two because it's certainly a rarity to have such amazing canine heroism displayed in such a similar manner on the same day
:-)
A nasty-looking, dedicated killing machine.....to be respected as is any of God’s creatures for sure, but not wanted near the stoat cave!
I saw a TV program on Australia’s snakes once, and it explained that the reason why so very many ultra-poisonous and deadly snakes exist in Australia is due to the climate, the terrain and the dispersal of available food.
Apparently, food for snakes has historically been so hard to come by that the snakes carrying the most lethal poisons were the ones that survived, because they were the only ones who were able to be assured of not having their dinner run away.
As a result, the snakes with minimal lethality tended to die off because their dinner was able to escape and the ones with the most lethal killing power survived.
Apparently, this is not such a pronounced concern in snake habitats on other continents because snake food is more plentiful, and so species were weeded out for different reasons.
Prayers up for Tess!
Thanks for pointing that out. It did seem strange that the dog suddenly went into a coma so much after the bite.
I should have checked it out further.
