Is there a specific date FreeRepublicans celebrate FR's birth? Or is there a day it ought to be celebrated (besides every day)?

I haven’t heard from Budge (Bloodhound/tainted blood threads)in a while, and our friend T’wit passed away. The one I *really* miss is Uncle Bill who posted the most scathing articles on the Clintons during the 1997-2000 period.

Somebody bake a double fudge chocolate un-birthday cake and save the end slice for me!

We don't have to do that anymore? My thoughts exactly. I got in the habit before the turn of the century, and never stopped.
For a while there, I started all my responses by closing tags.

Drudge had a linky here to FR back in the day...that's how I found it.
Back in 97 or the first of 98 I heard Rush talking about FreeRepublic. Well you can imagine what happened,Jim's server melted down. I got through and lurked for awhile then joined.

It’s whenever when Algore says it is.
After all, he did invent the internet.

As we speak, I'm sipping my Community Brand New Orleans Hotel Blend coffee out of the cool Freeper mug I've cherished for years.
Front shows the American flag, a flying Freeper eagle, "Free Republic.com, Defending our Constitution" and "Coffee, Tea and Liberty".
The other side has my name personalized, and "Damn the Liberals! Full FReep Ahead!"
I LUV my mug!
I can't remember when and why we received these limited edition mugs. Maybe a special contribution to FR of some sort? Anyone know?
I treat the mug like a piece of Royal Doulton.
Ah, precious freeper memories.

Quidam used to refer to someone in the Clinton investigation as the turtle.
The turtle knew.
The turtle would move on the Clintons.
We needed to trust the turtle.
Most everyone surmised that the turtle was Ken Starr.
Some even thought Quidam was Ken Starr.
Then one day Quidam did an opus and all that was left was Ash(es).

I asked Jim to change my freeper name about 2 years ago. Kept the same sign up date. The software even went back and changed the name in my older posts. You could put your old name in your tagline. Just a thought.Same here. My name was "Tragically Single," but then I got married. :D

A few years ago we were trying to get enough monthlies so there was no need for the FAT’s. I had suggested to Jim on a couple occasions that he give a little “thank you” gift every year to the dollar a day donors. Not only would it be a good practice but each year the gift could become a collectible for those who keep FR on the net.
Anyway, Jim never seemed too interested so I told him that I personally wanted to give something to the donors. I was hoping he would see how popular and effective it was and maybe take it up as an annual effort.
Diotima and I got together with Gene (Seekingthetruth)and we decided on a coffee mug that Gene could personalize with screen names...pretty cool. We ran a little contest on a new graphic for FR which we also hoped Jim might incorporate into a new logo for FR.
Gene did it at cost, I picked up the tab and we sent out over 1000 of the mugs. Everyone loved them.

BTW - That was a monumental effort for Gene and Diotima who did all the organizing and communications with the donors, getting screen names, addresses, etc. Jim didn’t want to give us the addresses or eddresses from the FR donor database so we had to contact each person individually. Some wanted a different name than that on FR.
