House bid to censure Stark falls short
By CHARLES BABINGTON, Associated Press Writer 18 minutes ago
Republicans failed in an effort Tuesday to have the House censure Rep. Pete Stark, D-Calif., who said in a congressional speech last week that U.S. troops are being sent to Iraq "to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."
Without debate, the House voted 196-173 to kill the proposal to censure Stark for "his despicable conduct." The vote was mostly along party lines, with all 168 Republicans on hand supporting the measure offered by Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. Five Democrats joined them.
Stark, 75, stirred cries of protest Thursday during a debate over President Bush's veto of a $35 billion increase to a children's health insurance program. "You don't have money to fund the war or children," Stark said on the House floor. "But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."
Stark initially refused to apologize despite condemnations from GOP lawmakers and others. Moments after Tuesday's vote, however, he addressed the House to apologize to his colleagues, "to the president and his family," and to U.S. troops offended by his remarks.

the reaction at DU is very scary indeed... that so many cannot see the injustice in such a comment, not to mention the hyperbole...
that is what the democratic party has become... hyperbolic hypocrates...

Would be good to know...
Unfortunately I asked my democrat representative Nick Lampson to take off the “D” for a moment, and condemn these remarks...
If he’s not in the five mentioned here, for one, I will not be surprised...But the odds were against this anyway...
And next time I see him in district, he will have a very unhappy look on his face when I get done with him...
I’ve had it...Enough is enough...
Well, I guess that answers my question...
Nick Lampson (22nd Texas) will be getting a nasty-gram from me shortly...
Even though the RATS can’t do anything productive for the rest of the country, they can sure rise to the occasion to prevent one of their own from being chastised in public. Oh that scene from “Independence Day” where the capitol is blown away and hopefully taking enough RATS with it makes my heart feel good.
I just can’t wait for the ads about their treasons to air!

I haven't been to DUmmies website in a while, but I was just reminded of the STARK raving loonies that we have in this country. Thanks for the post. They can't even formulate coherent thoughts or arguments. One post just had the F word repeated over and over again. Brilliant people.
Some of them are so....eloquent—NOT!
Odds are, the other four Democrats who broke ranks, without imperiling the Motion to Table, are likewise Blue Dog Democrats trying to protect themselves in the next election. Also, a large number of Democrats either voted "present" or did not vote at all on the Motion to Table.
Nancy Pelosi said that Stark's remarks were "inappropriate," but she held in enough votes to keep him from being censured. I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

My announcement of running for Congress in 2008 appears here.
Well that raises the question exactly what would a RAT Congress Critter have to do to get censured?
Heath Shuler needs to be brought over from the Dark Side.
Ah, Shuler is in your district, BB? Sorry about that.
Whup up on him.
So where is the motion to censure Jack Murtha for calling our troops cold-blooded killers? His remarks were made on national television shows and heard by far more people than Pete Stark’s were.
Elections have consequences. If Pubs had come out in ‘06 and unified, the House would not have been such a disaster and the Senate would still be theirs. I am glad 168 Pubs voted against the arrogant leftist nut, Stark. But, with a few more House seats, 17, in fact, they could have done it. Pubs , Purists especially, need to remember that this next election. The Gop is going to lose Senate seats but they could win some more of that needed 17 with unity.
Stark - yea...
Duh!!!
You’d think someone would have abstained on their own censure vote...
What a bunch of dunderheads anyway...
Hey...didya get my email I sent the other day to your other account?
Offer still stands.
October has been a great month for our side and a Halloween nightmare on Elm Street for the rats.
