UPDATE: The city of Malibu is advising residents in Puerco Canyon to begin evacuating due to a wildfire driven by powerful winds. This area is north of Pacific Coast Highway and about 1 mile west of Pepperdine University. Residents along the beach on Malibu Road may soon be evacuated. Pacific Coast Highway is closed between Kanan-Dume Road and Topanga Canyon. Residents are advised to head to the west. Evacuation centers are being set up in the Zuma Beach area.
A wildfire driven by powerful winds in the Malibu Hills this morning threatened a university, destroyed at least one home and forced the evacuation of hundreds more, authorities said.

Just sayin’.
Potrero is NOT near Irvine. About 2.5 hours away. Portola is near Irvine.
The CHP thing you’re posting IS Potrero and is in San Diego. There is ALSO a fire near Portola in Irvine.
The situation near both fires in San Diego is definitely NOT good. They just issued more evacuations for the areas of both fires
Gil Elvgren?
That must be why Brad’s Gramma keeps turning off the heater.

Speaking of heaters....guess what’s broken?
Our air conditioning....
Malibu fire now acting up again
Oh dear! Bad timing. Do you have a large fan in your house to keep the air circulating? It’s bad up here where I am and that fire near you looks ferocious.
Ceiling fans and a couple of stand-ups.
We’ll survive. I always have the *gag* pool...
Thanks for the geography lesson, I wasn’t sure where everything is.
Best wishes to all there.
They are moving the Poway High evac to Mera Mesa High School
Poway High School evac center has been moved to Mira Mesa due to horrid smoke!
cross posting LOL
“Well survive. I always have the *gag* pool...”
Which pool?
CTAC2 and MUTUAL AID NORTH are patched....
Let me see if you can guess as to the reason why?
Yeah, and it’s not sounding good for Poway.
They just closed the Poway High evacuation center...
They’re afraid the PHS location isn’t safe and they’re moving to MIRA MESA High School.
This is deja vu. I remember when my friends and family in the east part of Poway were evac’d last time... (the Bridlewood areas off of Espola)
They better direct the PHS evacuees down Espola THROUGH RB to 15. If they send them south on Espola towards Twin Peaks, they’re going to clog up the intersections that the evacuees coming down the grade will be at (Poway Road/67 AND Espola/Twin Peaks). That will make the mess in Ramona worse for those trying to leave.
Yikes.
