Mr. C4E is a Texan...so I understand. You might already know this, but other than the big cities in CA which tend to be liberal, excluding San Diego, the rest of CA is quite conservative. The big cities just beat out our votes.

I debated whether a statement like that deserved comment. Unless you are a Rush staffer, your post makes no sense. Who would bid $100,000 on this thing? It is a Rush-driven PR stunt. I love it. It is simply logical that he and his friends are bidding up this auction.

Wow...a hundred Grand...it will be interesting if the final winner is known....we haven't even gotten close to the last-minute snipers either...big money...Maha Rushie has already knocked this out of the park.
I expect the Mediots will help the likes of Reid and Pelosi and Hillary! to slither back under their rocks for a few weeks, concerning this issue....not that they're all so predictable, or anything like that....It's a wonder the Leftist Nitwits who worship these little lizard chameleons will never recognize what they are supporting. Mindlessness.

If Alan Colmes wants to risk his money like that, let him go ahead.
I think he couldn’t raise more than $5000 if the money was going to the ACLU.
Besides, Colmes would not be smart enough screen the bidders and weed out the pretenders.
Rush was brilliant with this one!! He’s always smart-—but this time he was over the top smart!!

Al -- changing subject here a bit......would you resurrect your famous colonoscopy thread for us?
If you'd be so kind, I promise not to point out again that you look exactly like Mark Geragos....

Just damn! A couple of us wanted to reminisce over the "fun threads".
It's probably a good thing you yanked your Geragos pic from your homepage, though....he's one ugly fu*k....

The document has its own intrinsic value. I am not a historic document expert - but I suspect that the $$ value of this document is easy a hundred grand.....When Limbaugh dies (if he ever does) the document may be worth much more.
It's like investing in art.....you just never know.

When Limbaugh dies (if he ever does) the document may be worth much more. I don't think he ever will. If he reaches the age of 80, Limbaugh should be worth well over $50 billion in 2007 dollars. Surely he will be able to afford the latest cryogenic sustainment equipment available in 2038.

In fact, Alan Colmes said he wants to buy it, put it back on Ebay and give the money to the ACLU. Thats very capitalist of him. Probably wants them to mount a campaign to symbolically bury the word Islamo-fascist.
At first when I read this I thought; "Well, more power to him. If that's what Alan wants to do, that's his prerogative." But the more I think about it, the more I like this idea. I think Alan has (unwittingly) hit upon a fantastic idea! Can you imagine how little money would be raised for the Senate letter? The letter itself is not worth that much. It's the principle behind the auction that is driving the price right now. People who are bidding on it want it, but they want to prove a point more.
I wonder if Alan did this, would he also challenge the 41 airheads (oops, I mean Senators) to match a donation to the ACLU.

It is simply logical that he and his friends are bidding up this auction.
It would be illegal. You can't bid up your own auction (although I'm sure there are people who do). Rush does not want to muddy the waters with allegations of wrong doing. It would deflate the effect that this auction and the results are going to have on the democRATS.
As far as his buddies bidding up the auction; I can't imagine someone who hates Rush is going to bid on it. I also don't see anything wrong or shady with his friends bidding on it.
Who would bid $100,000 on this thing?
The "thing" is not the point. It's the principle behind it. Rush got a nasty, extremely disingenuous, and downright stupid letter written about him to his partner. In the letter, Rush was falsely accused of smearing the troops. Rush got a hold of the letter and is auctioning it off on Ebay to support the kids of fallen soldiers and cops. On top of that, Rush challenged the democRATS to match the donations. In effect, he is making the democRATS eat their own words.
The democRATS tried to take out Rush in one of the most disingenuous smears ever. In my opinion, the people who are bidding on the letter want a piece of that fight, more than they want the letter.

I also don't see anything wrong or shady with his friends bidding on it. I don't either. And the charity is fantastic.

Don’t follow why you are accusing Rush (or his staff) of bidding up the auction. ?? Got any proof?
I think this is just hilarious. Nicely done, Rush!
To: Shortstop7; montag813
Maybe it's some of the folks at Democratic Underground bidding it up. Check out this piece written up Right Wing News
here on how Democratic Underground proposes dealing with the e-bay letter auction. It's driving them nuts. :-)
