It is simply logical that he and his friends are bidding up this auction.

It would be illegal. You can't bid up your own auction (although I'm sure there are people who do). Rush does not want to muddy the waters with allegations of wrong doing. It would deflate the effect that this auction and the results are going to have on the democRATS.

As far as his buddies bidding up the auction; I can't imagine someone who hates Rush is going to bid on it. I also don't see anything wrong or shady with his friends bidding on it.

Who would bid $100,000 on this thing?

The "thing" is not the point. It's the principle behind it. Rush got a nasty, extremely disingenuous, and downright stupid letter written about him to his partner. In the letter, Rush was falsely accused of smearing the troops. Rush got a hold of the letter and is auctioning it off on Ebay to support the kids of fallen soldiers and cops. On top of that, Rush challenged the democRATS to match the donations. In effect, he is making the democRATS eat their own words.

The democRATS tried to take out Rush in one of the most disingenuous smears ever. In my opinion, the people who are bidding on the letter want a piece of that fight, more than they want the letter.

I don't either. And the charity is fantastic.
