Quarter of Germans say Nazism had good points

A quarter of Germans believe there were at least some positive aspects to Nazi rule, a poll showed today.

The finding comes after a popular talk show host was fired for praising Nazi Germany’s attitude toward motherhood.

Germans were asked whether National Socialism had some “good sides (such as) the construction of the highway system, the elimination of unemployment, the low criminality rate (and) the encouragement of the family”.

A quarter of those who responded said “yes” – but 70% said “no”.

Stern magazine commissioned the survey after Germany’s NDR public broadcaster fired talk show host Eva Herman last month following her statement on the Third Reich.

She was reported as saying that while there was “much that was very bad, for example Adolf Hitler”, there were good things, “for example, the high regard for the mother” under the Nazis.

I think Berlin did have a 0% street crime rate in 1937.

Perhaps, but incidents of lead poisoning were about 100% for the minority populations.

they tried to get rid of Commies.

Actually the Communist party was the Nazi party's coalition partner in the Reichstag. The two worked hand in hand to destroy the Weimar republic. After the Nazi's achieved absolute power and began to eliminate their enemies many communists were allowed to join the Nazi party.

It is a myth - invented by the left - that the Nazis were opponents of the communists. The Nazis and Communists were competitors, but not opponents - at least not until Hitler invaded the USSR.

It was from the song ‘Autobahn’ from the 70s from the German band Kraftwerk which was actually a hit here in the US.

Iran “doesn’t have homosexuals” either.

Think of the source when we quote “there was no street crime.”

Well other than that Kristallnacht thing.

Wrong year - that was in 1938.

No shocker here. It was a fear/hatred of outsiders that allowed NAZI’ism to begin in the 1st palce. With the way the west have been handing over their countries to the Muslims, NAZI’ism 2.0 is a logical outcome.

A very nice German woman I knew who grew up under Nazi rule once said, “Hitler wasn’t all bad. He ran youth camps that we all went to.” I’m serious. Everyone who heard it sat there in shock.

They were the best dressed soldiers in WWII. Appearance wise that is. I’m not making this up but I was in the Marine Corp with a guy who thought we should have dress blacks as well as dress blues. The dress blacks would be similar to the nazi black uniforms, complete with boots. I think he was kidding.

I won’t speak for the gator, but my comment was entirely tongue in cheek.

Of course there was street crime in Germany under Nazism. Human nature is what it is.

They had universal single-payer HitleryCare!

They didn't let Bible-thumping moralists hold them back from cutting-edge medical experiments!

The all-black uniform of the Nazi Schutzstaffel paramilitary force from 1932 until 1945 was designed by SS-Oberführer Prof. Dr. Karl Diebitsch and Walter Heck (graphic designer) and made by the Hugo Boss company.
