This was the most ridiculous, contradiction-filled, biased article I have read in quite some time.

It was just like Iraq, when the White House was so eager for war it couldn't wait for the UN inspectors to leave

Oh, really. Mind explaining why we sat on our hands for almost ten years then?

Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies. That's how wars are averted.

War is the complete failure of diplomacy. Diplomacy works only when both sides are negotiating in good faith. Iran has no such pretense. They see war as an inevitable outcome and want it hastened. They are religious fanatics that see themselves as the savior of the Islamic faith. They will not stop the enrichment program nor will they allow themselves to be intimidated by the West. It's all a matter of religious fervor to them. The USSR didn't have a death wish nor a built-in persecution complex. You cannot negotiate with a fanatic.................

The war with Iran started 400 days before Ronald Reagan, but the ballless wonder of a President at the time didn’t see it.

Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies.

I disagree with that statement. It is more than talking.

>"Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies. That's how wars are averted."

Avert this!

Ishaq:327 “Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion.’”

"Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in God, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the truth, until they pay tribute out of hand, and they be humbled." Sura 9:29

Sura 9:5 of the “Koran,” “Slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush.”
Which parts of these words of mohamhead-n-satanallah are you having trouble understanding?

Let's negotiate.

Hillary Mann is the wife of Flynt Leverett.

Levertt has worked for Brookings, a lib thinkless tank.

That's not a serious approach to diplomacy, Mann says. Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies. That's how wars are averted.

Thank God we got to talk to the Nazis at Munich. Otherwise we might have had a war.

Leverett traveled with Colin Powell and advised Condoleezza Rice.

Thanks to the author for that bias alert, which told me to stop reading right there.

>>>Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies. <<<

Diplomacy is about talking with those with whom you have differences, prior to them becoming enemies.

An Enemy is to be defeated.

There is nothing to talk to Iran about - the Iranian mullahs are implacably opposed to our way of life. That might be OK, if they had a "live and let Live" approach to co-existance.

But they don't. Victory is the only solution.

Mann is an idiot - and he has a lot of company!

“Diplomacy is about talking to your enemies. That’s how wars are averted.”

WRONG....
Basic Machevelli:

Diplomacy only works when BOTH SIDES have something to gain by it, such as the prevention of a war.

In this case, the nutjobs in IRAN want the War, and the BOMB, so they have nothing to gain by negotiating...

In other Esquire news...

Charlize Theron has an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award. Now she’s Esquire magazine’s “sexiest woman alive.”

When I want solid, hard-hitting journalism, I grab a copy of Esquire.

BTW - Iran has been at war with the US since the 70s. Its about time we fight back!

Iran is nothing more than the next domino in the war on terror.
We will have to confront them sooner or later.
It’s better if it’s on our terms and before they have a viable nuke to use.

One day during the U.S. bombing campaign, Mann and her Iranian counterparts were sitting around the wooden conference table speculating about the future Afghani constitution. Suddenly the Iranian who knew so much about intelligence matters started pounding on the table. "Enough of that!" he shouted, unfurling a map of Afghanistan. Here was a place the Americans needed to bomb. And here, and here, he angrily jabbed his finger at the map.

Iran is happy to work with anyone, including nations' it considers to be irredeemably evil, to achieve its imperial ambitions. Iranian officials understand how to manipulate the idealists in every democratic Administration. Indeed, Europe is far more susceptible to Iranian political obfuscations. The fact is, the Islamic Republic of Iran is always looking for traction. They operate by proxy! It’s a global pattern that endures because of its effectiveness. Mann and her husband have served a similar purpose within the Administration. In other words, Mann and her husband are proxy agents for spreading Iran’s empire.

It doesn't matter what the Iranians offered. It only matters what they do and when they do it. Nothing in this article indicates Tehran’s willingness to stop spreading its toxic ideology. Nothing in this article indicates Iran’s will to join the international community as a partner. These are the most basic principals of cooperation and mutual respect. Mann and her husband were the inadvertent vehicles for another of Tehran's misinformation campaigns. This is a scary article. It is sad to see how politically malleable these two were in the midst of an ideological war. For their unwitting service to Tehran, they've lost a great deal of career potential. It would seem that their real handicap is an inability to listen to their own situation holistically. Mann should have learned from the exchange I excerpted. It is the only piece of seemingly classified information her and her husband leaked with any substance.
