House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, famous for donning a head scarf earlier this year to commune for peace with the Syrians, has now concluded that this is the perfect moment to pass a Congressional resolution condemning Turkey for the Armenian genocide of 1915. Problem is, Turkey in 2007 has it within its power to damage the growing success of the U.S. effort in Iraq. We would like to assume this is not Speaker Pelosi's goal.
...
If Nancy Pelosi and Tom Lantos want to take down U.S. policy in Iraq to tag George Bush with the failure, they should have the courage to walk through the front door to do it. Bringing the genocide resolution to the House floor this week would put a terrible event of Armenia's past in the service of America's bitter partisanship today. It is mischievous at best, catastrophic at worst, and should be tabled.

They are educated without morrals. They are menaces to our society...they are menaces to our security...they are menaces to our civilization.
This is likely the most irresponsible move I have seen the “rats make....ever. Simply amazing the ends they will go to. It’s more than obvious they hate their country, their military and are deeply deranged.
The world is already plagued by conflicts based on historical grievances, which conflicts resist rational solutions. The last thing this world needs is the resurrection of another insoluble historical grievance.
I think devious and evil would better describe the hate filled Democrat caucus. Merely incompetent would be too kind for treasonous acts like this.
Sarcasm Alert Off.
“I think devious and evil would better describe the hate filled Democrat caucus. Merely incompetent would be too kind for treasonous acts like this.”
You’re exactly right. It is blatant, in your face, EVIL.
But then to name it what it is, these days, you are sure to be labeled a Christian fanatic. Didn’t Harry (wormwood) Reid just call evangelicals the anti-Christ? These are sad times.
This has me angrier than I was at any point since they lost their collective minds at the Wellstone funeral/ho-down. Unfortunately the American people are out to lunch on this outrage, and the President isn’t doing jack squat to raise anyone’s consciousness of their treasonous action.
Perhaps he himself really doesn’t get it? I’ve noticed he’s great against foreign enemies but naively chalks up everything the domestic ones do as “politics”.
It’s much more than politics at this point.
Of COURSE that is the traitorous Dems’ goal!
Hey, I want a resolution condeming the barbaric actions of yankees towards the Confederacy. They were ordered to loot, rape, pillage and burn to the ground all dwellings and businesses. I think we need a resolution condeming Sherman and Grant as war criminals.
Forgot to add Sheridan.
As the Victory becomes more obvious look for more drastic measures from the Rats. Our safety is their last concern.
Pray for W and Our Victorious Troops
“Where is the upside in October 2007 to this Armenian resolution?”
It’s purely partisan. They are pandering to the Armenian voters. Once again the Democrats are selling out the best interests of the Nation for a small partisan gain.
Ironically, though, in the 1990s, the same issue came up when the GOP was in control, and Bill Clinton asked Hassert to deny the bill a floor vote in order to avoid inflaming Turkey, while we were trying to maintain a no-fly zone. Hassert blocked it.
lastly..
Sorry, nothing is beyond a traitorous group of lemmings like Pelosi and her ilk.
