The presidency is okay, I guess
Talk about finding a silver lining
Speaking with XM Radio's Bob Edwards on Tuesday, former President Jimmy Carter (you know, the guy who gave the "malaise" speech) told the radio host that he "would not want to have changed anything" during his presidency.
Well, okay, maybe one thing. Referring to the Iran hostage crisis, Carter said, "I have a specific regret in not having one more helicopter when I wanted to rescue our hostages. If I had had one more helicopter, they would have been rescued. I might have been reelected president."
But presidency, schmesidency, says Carter, who thinks that the Oval Office isn't nearly as sweet a gig as his own humanitarian efforts at The Carter Center. IAfter all, f he had had that extra helicopter, which would have rescued the hostages (wildly presuming, of course, that the Delta Force commanders were able to pull of a daring rescue of the more than 50 U.S. citizens being held in Tehran) and, thus, helped re-elect him president, Carter said "in that case I probably wouldn't have had the Carter Center, so in balance I would not want to have changed anything."
I must once again, unashamedly and unabashedly, post the link to my Blog post that is a beautiful finely crafted rant against Jimmy Carter. It includes details about his presidency from one who lived through it.
The alignment is a bit off, please forgive, from conversion to new Blog format. Still there are some great pics in the post as well.
I want my granddaughter to know the truth because the union school teachers tend to re-write history.

Taglines for the inevitable Carter bio epic:
“A helicopter! A helicopter! My kingdom for a helicopter!”
or maybe
“Being Democrat means never having to say, ‘I’m sorry’”
Jimmy Carter . . . one helicopter shy of a rescue.
mkay Jimmah, get your hammer and nails and work on that 2 by 2. When you’re done covering it with nails come back and I’ll tell what’s next.
More virtually uncontested Gold Medals for the CCCP. The Warsaw Pact swept almost all events. That’ll learn’em.
“I have a specific regret in not having one more helicopter when I wanted to rescue our hostages. If I had had one more helicopter, they would have been rescued. I might have been reelected president.”
It’s always about political power to these people.. not country first. That statement speaks volumes about Jimmah. He was not concerned about the hostages, he was concerned about his reelection chances. What a piece of trash.
I considered it an empty gesture made at the expense of others.
> I have a specific regret in not having one more helicopter when I wanted to rescue our hostages. If I had had one more helicopter, they would have been rescued. I might have been reelected president.<
Psst - by the way Jimmy, if that operation had been planned competently, it might not have created so many (what was it, 9?) dead soldiers. That you care more about your reelection than the lives of those brave men speaks VOLUMES.
Taking the Clinton approach to "meaning well."
"I thought about fighting terrorism all the time," and other tidbits from Bill Clinton. I'm sure that "no one" wanted those hostages released any more than you did, you long-since irrelevant excuse of a President.
What's next, which evil conservative are you going to blame for your lack of military resources?
Least of all, being a communist.
He has regrets. He regrets that he hasn’t done enough to destroy America. He lied to get elected. He’s lying now.
At what point does does he lapse from being “distictly unhelpful” and displaying “bad form” to become “a traitor to his country.”
In order to know if you have some direction for your life, you have to HAVE a moral compass.
Jimmy lost all his credibility when he made everything into “moral equivalency”, be it war, or religion, or prosperity, or even greeting your neighbor on the street.
.
“I might have been reelected president.” (if the rescue had succeeded...
No, Jimmy..you live in a fantasy. There was STILL the 21% interest rates, the 11% unemployment, the gas lines, the Russian invasion of Afganistan (and boy did you show those Russians who was boss by boycotting the Olympics), the Panama Canal give away...and it goes on and on..
Jimmy, you lost because you are and were LOST.
I cannot imagine that this man worships anyone more than himself.
I completely forgot Panama.
Maybe it would take less time to count the postive things about Carter’s Presidency:
It was only one term.
Unfortunately he's more than one peanut short of a full load.
