CLEVELAND - A gunman opened fire in a high school on Wednesday, and a witness said he saw three people taken out on stretchers.
Ronnell Jackson, 15, said he saw a shooter running down a hall at SuccessTech Academy.
"He was about to shoot me but I got out just in time," he said. "He was aiming at me I got out just in time."
Another student, Doneisha LeVert, said she heard the principal say "Code Blue" over the public address system, and the students started running. She said she hid in a closet with some of her friends.
Tammy Mundy, 38, who has a son and daughter at the school, told The Plain Dealer of Cleveland that her daughter called when the shooting started.
"She said, 'Mom they're shooting in here, kids are running out, I'm hiding in the closet,'" Mundy told the newspaper.
Then she called her 18-year-old son, Darnell Rodgers, on his cell phone, and he told her he had been shot in the arm.
"He said, 'Mom I got shot,'" Mundy told the newspaper.

I just heard a radio report that said that this is an alternative school, which means either it is a school where problem children in the district are sent to get them out of the mainstream classrooms, or else the kids are dropouts who are trying to get their GED or something Wrong on both counts. It's basically a magnet school that incorporates technology with traditional education & is said to be one of the better schools around.
But don't let facts get in the way.

There was a Columbine-like shooting (targeting jocks and preps) in the mid-1960s as well (and Charles Starkweather’s rampage before that).

Maybe it was pimple cream as the apologists for the Tampa Teen Terrorist tried to claim in the initial weeks.

but it would be so much more emmy material if this were a school run by the nra...and vast right wing conspirators.
prayers for the children, always.

"He said, 'Mom I got shot,'" . . .That's right up there with "Hey dad, I've been in a train wreck!" from my engineer son.

Press conference didn’t indicate any one was killed and all are stable or being treated and released.
ALL CLEVELAND SCHOOLS are CLOSED for tomorrow.

CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT
SuccessTech Academy and YOU! Your journey can begin here! SuccessTech Academy is a small, nontraditional high school that provides a learning environment in which all students believe in their ability to succeed. Students will achieve their goals as they progress through our problem-based, technology infused curriculum. Each student will develop a personalized learning plan with his or her teacher and parent. Students will be required to participate in service learning, which enhances what is taught in school by extending learning beyond the classroom into the community. The SuccessTech Academy learning community will have high standards and a rigorous curriculum that promotes cooperative learning, inquiry -based problem solving and communication skills. In order to accomplish these goals, state of the art technologies will be incorporated into the daily learning projects. Students will experience learning in a setting that allows for individual, small and large group activities in flexible surroundings. All students will be part of a consistent "Family Home Room" for their four years.

You probably already heard about it.
I thought that school shootings were a relic of the 1990’s.

Ive been watching the live feed. They are interviewing students. I feel sorry for them. They sound so ignorant. They speak a language Im not familiar with. One was reminiscent of the "Boo got shot!" soundbyte from a few years ago.

WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM? >:-(
I worked at an inner city school in Dallas for 5 years straight with kids *below* the poverty level. When someone said “alternative school”, it meant a school where the kids who kept getting into trouble went, or those who had dropped out were working to get their GEDs.
Sheesh.
