Ron's Revolution: Could Dr. Paul Really Surprise Us?
National Review Online ^ | October 9, 2007 | Dave Kopel

This weekend, I attended and spoke at the Second Amendment Foundation’s annual Gun Rights Policy Conference, which was held at a convention center in northern Kentucky, a few miles away from Cincinnati. What I saw and heard there changed my mind about the viability of Ron Paul’s presidential candidacy; Paul is going to far outperform the expectations laid out for him.

First, for some background: twenty years ago, the Second Amendment Foundation (the second-largest pro-Second Amendment group in the U.S.) began sponsoring an annual Gun Rights Policy Conference, in conjunction with other pro-gun groups, including the NRA. For a full working day on Saturday, and half a day on Sunday, the conference features 10-15 minute speeches by writers, radio hosts, group leaders, and other pro-2d Amendment activists.’’

Absolutely not - - unless there is a sudden surge of mass hysteria.

“Your comment is complete BS, the Constitution isn’t ‘outdated’”

Oh really, tell me about our States Rights today?
Tell me how agriculture department rules controlling the price of milk fit into the Constitution.
Tell me where foreign aid fits into the Constitution.
Tell me where the Federal Education Department fits into the Constitution.
Tell me why the Federal Government can tell a farmer how much wheat he can grow?
Tell me how the City of Chicago can outlaw handgun ownership?

We don’t follow the Constitution. We use the parts that are convenient to us. We ignore those parts that are inconvenient.

And yes everything in my original post was stated in a conversation with my son last Saturday.

He is my congressman, and he has been to some of my Christmas parties, but I am no longer voting at all until Ramos & Campean are FREE.

Paul just voted against the bill that contained an amendment that would cut funding off to keep these agents jailed that Poe, Tancredo and Hunter put forth.

That the Constitution is not obeyed doesn’t mean it is outdated.

The paleopipsqueak COULD surprise us by turning patriotic! OR By saying what he means and meaning what he says and by not being simultaneously on both sides of everything.

Petronski: From a Yankee fan, best wishes for the Tribe and congratulations.

It seems to be a generational thing. Many Conservative types are becoming inflicted with the same disease that is slowly rotting the young academics, “well maybe this or that idea is not as bad as we first thought, lets look into it a little closer”. Scares the hell out of me!

I don’t think that there are many bad ideas left to be implemented before those bad ideas cumulatively damage our people and our freedoms so much that we lose them.

His supporters span a broad ideological spectrum

They run the gamut all the way from LIHOP to MIHOP, and back again.

Not to mention the funloving and the clueless.

The 'Ron Paul Revolution' hits Tempe

One night last week, 20-year-old Jakob Millizer and a band of fellow political activists plastered the Valley with 180 giant signs on behalf of a presidential candidate that barely registers on national opinion polls

....snip...

"I can't say that I know much about Ron Paul and his platform," said Lauren Rusnock, 19, an Arizona State University student who said the candidate's appeal has a lot to do with the nature of the citizen-fueled campaign. "I do wish that a Hillary or an Obama would have a more hands-on campaign."

....snip...

Few of the participants are actually registered Republican. "They're drawn to a few ideas: no IRS, balancing the budget, making the government smaller," Millizer said. "They like Paul's consistency." When asked if there is a specific target group for the poster effort, Millizer said, "American citizens." He said Paul's appeal is broad, admitting that most of his supporters do not agree with everything Paul has to say.

He could surprise Hillary, if she morphs into Bush, as she is trying to do.

He has won a lot of those polls they’re not exactly scientific. Trouble is he is still a bottom dweller in all the other polls. I hope you Paul supporters have a pretty good sense of humor, your going to need it.
