humblegunner has been in the hospital since last Wednesday, October 3.
He has been extremely ill and today, after four days of antibiotics and the removal of a large amount of fluid from the area surrounding his right lung, he is finally beginning to feel better. His doctors have said that he will be hospitalized for several more days.
Gunner also mentioned that he REALLY hated getting a sponge bath from a Pilipino grandma.
I guess things can always be worse. He needs a Nurse Ratched type to whip him into shape.
He really hates the ICU because “It is like being in a hallway...
I hate hospitals--I could never get any sleep in one because of those very things he mentioned. You need sleep to get better and heal--you just want to be in your own bed.
Hope he can get home soon.
Had a few hospital stays myself in the last few years and can't count the number of times I have seen staff wake up patients to give them their sleeping pills.
Then they would stare at the ceiling for half hour or so...doze off for a few minutes then get woke up again for blood pressure or blood letting.
Went and spent a few hours with gunner. Had to leave as he was about to call security.
I let him know how bad he looked and made six different kinds of fun of him because he wasn’t able to get out of bed to kick my a$$.
He is really looking good and has his sense of humor back. He spends hours trying to figure out how to unhook all if the tubes and electrical gizmos then re-hook them to the walker so that he can escape with his backless gown flapping in the breeze.
He has decided that he should have gone to a blacksmith instead of the hospital as even the CDC in Atlanta doesn’t know what he has so what’s the difference?
He forced me to take pictures of the doctors handywork that made me a bit queasy so I have not downloaded them yet. There prolly ain’t no way that I am going to post them.
He really appreciates all the prayers and posts here. It has really buoyed his spirits and he asked me to thank all of you ........... so THANK YOU!

For some reason this post got me kind of choked up. I guess it's just so good to see that he's being his normal self.
I'm sure yours and The Mom's visit was like the best kind of tonic for him. As are pax's visits.
