An Air America producer just sent over some transcript from an interview their Richard Greene (not our Richard Greene) conducted with Elizabeth Edwards, in which she questioned Rush Limbaugh's Vietnam exemption:
My classmates went to Vietnam, he did not. He was 4F. He had a medical disability, the same medical disability that probably should have stopped him from spending a lifetime in a radio announcers chair; but it is true, isnt it? If he has an inoperable position that allows him not to serve, presumably it should not allow him to sit for long periods of time the way he does. I think this is a serious enough offense for the people who fund him, who buy ads and allow him to be on the air, need to be asked if this is what they really stand for, do they think it is alright for someone who has never served to denigrate the men and women who have simply because they are expressing an opinion. Frankly, I thought that is what we are fighting for.
In the interview, Edwards also suggested that John Kerry shouldn't have conceded when he did in 2004.
RG: Were you disappointed that Senator Kerry conceded as quickly as he did?
EE: I was very disappointed, not just because we did not count the votes, but because we promised people that if they stood in line and fought for the right to vote, that we would fight with them. And I was very disappointed that the decision was made by the campaign, over Johns objection, not to fight.
I would agree with that. However, I don't think the founding fathers ever anticipated that the electorate would hold their right (and responsibility) to vote in such low regard. The active decision to defend the country might be an indicator of an understanding of one's right and responsibility. Or not, as evidenced by Mr. Kerry.
This can be a wonderful opportunity to finish the work Ann Coulter started in identifying this "attack-victim" strategy by absolutely going nuclear on Mrs. Edwards - cancer or no cancer.
It’s obvious that Edwards isn’t going to get the RAT nomination in this round. Wonder who he’ll be sending out as an attack dog in the next round if he dares to try again? Who’s gonna be the lucky gay?, sorry, I meant GUY.
What an ignorant democrat she is. Or is that redundant?
The Edwards campaign consists entirely of....My wife is dying,,vote for me.
She assumes he’s never had it excised all these years.
Edwards was born June 10, 1953. He was covered in the 1972 draft lottery, and his birth date drew no. 178. That lottery covered the draft for 1973, however by then the draft had ended.
Rush Limbaugh was born on January 12, 1951. He was covered by the 1971 draft lottery, and his birth date drew no. 152. That lottery covered the draft for 1972, however, they only got up to no. 125 in that year, so he wouldn’t have been drafted.
Neither would have known for sure whether they would be drafted or not before the fact.
Neither chose to enlist; Rush claimed a medical deferment as did many others. Edwards was in college, pursuing a degree in “textile technology” at NC State. He would have had a student deferment at that time, as did many others.
I don’t see a lot of difference between the two situations.
To make a distinction is just ridiculous.
Some of them are “INOPERABLE”
The Left cannot get it through their emotions that the days of the "Fairness Doctrine" are over. The MSM no longer are the gatekeepers of "news" and issues. Ninety percent of Americans have only to go to the Internet to see that Mrs. Edwards' draft story is daft.
Sorry, Mrs. Edwards. Thirty or forty years ago Walter "North Viet Nam Communists' most trusted man in America" Cronkite would have made it seem so.
Back then checking on the MSM took a lot more effort because ya didn't have a free press.
Piling on. These leftists are disgusting. They can’t stand letting anyone exist who speaks and doesn’t agree with leftist dogma. The left is trying to destroy Rush.
I’ll never vote for ANY democrat, ever.
Is that true that the Edward’s Son was drunk when he crashed his car and was he only sixteen at the time of his death?
“Textile technology?”
You mean like...designing dresses?
He was having a bad hair year?
I understand. Doesn’t change my previous reply.
The distinction between the 2...One is running for president by pissing on America.
One is making tons of Money, talking about how great America is.
