Edwards was born June 10, 1953. He was covered in the 1972 draft lottery, and his birth date drew no. 178. That lottery covered the draft for 1973, however by then the draft had ended.
Rush Limbaugh was born on January 12, 1951. He was covered by the 1971 draft lottery, and his birth date drew no. 152. That lottery covered the draft for 1972, however, they only got up to no. 125 in that year, so he wouldn’t have been drafted.
Neither would have known for sure whether they would be drafted or not before the fact.
Neither chose to enlist; Rush claimed a medical deferment as did many others. Edwards was in college, pursuing a degree in “textile technology” at NC State. He would have had a student deferment at that time, as did many others.
I don’t see a lot of difference between the two situations.
To make a distinction is just ridiculous.
“Textile technology?”
You mean like...designing dresses?
The distinction between the 2...One is running for president by pissing on America.
One is making tons of Money, talking about how great America is.
“Neither chose to enlist; Rush claimed a medical deferment as did many others”
I was very involved in the draft situation and fought the draft and won a permanent deferment before enlisting.
I considered the medical deferment as one that people cannot argue with, whereas having a high number or being protected by your church or whatever do not protect you from questions.
