It hasn't gotten much comment yet, but in his interview on Fox last night, Fred Thompson rather emphatically told Focus on the Family chief James Dobson to take a hike. Host Sean Hannity asked Thompson about Dobson, who has attacked Thompson and made it clear he would not support a Thompson candidacy. "Don't read too much into the Dobson thing," Thompson told Hannity, continuing:
A gentleman who has never met me, who has never talked to me, I've never talked to him on the phone. I did have one of his aides call me up and kind of apologize, the first time he attacked me and said I wasn't a Christian
I don't know the gentleman. I do know that I have a lot of people who are of strong faith and are involved in the same organizations that he is in, that I've met with, Jeri and I both have met with, and I like to think that we have some strong friendships and support there
Hannity then asked: "Would you want to have a conversation with Dr. Dobson? Do you think that might help?"
I have no idea. I don't particularly care to have a conversation with him. If he wants to call up and apologize again, that's ok with me. But I'm not going to dance to anybody's tune.
How do you know what Thompson’s “fruits” are? You don’t know anything about his private life.
Your fruits appear to be rotten, but I’m not going to say you are LOST. That’s for God to decide.
Points well taken, Thank You.
Amen brother!
AMEN!....and pass the plate!
I’m sooo confused.
“If Hunter gets the nomination, Ill see that the party is worth staying in.”
Well good, but you and the rest of the 1 percenters shouldn’t hold your breaths.
Your are using off the wall statements to stir people up and get an argument going, and I am not buying into that, come back when and if you grow up and want to have an adult discussion. Until then, bye, bye.
You write:
“As a neighbor of mine once said, some of the biggest crooks and siners are there every time the church doors open and dose not seem to be doing them any good. We always called them hypocrites”
... and you say I need to grow up?
“Your fruits appear to be rotten,”
You got all that from my post(s)? Well you know a lot less about me than I know about Thompson.
I wasn’t trying to imply anything. Hence my lack of any sort of accusation or conclusion. As I initially read this thread in its entirety, the parable just kept popping into my head. I could have (and probably should have) just as easily posted it to myself. I meant no offense.
“”Far too many Christians out there think that THEIR particular way is the ONLY way.”
Why would “far too many” Christians believe otherwise? That is silly. Of course they think that. What would the alternative be?””
Tolerance of other Christians who worship in a slightly different manner. There are still too many internecine fights (Protestant v Catholic, etc) that separate people who all worship the same God.
“”The problem is that they (in large part) have a rather bad image among the far-greater-in-size mass of people out there who ALSO have votes”
I wonder where that “image” came from? Could it be the smear machine from the Liberal MSM?
Mission accomplished!
I thought that it was the left was intolerant? This is an amazing thread.””
No, the right can be just as intolerant. There are more than enough Pharisees out there that the MSM don’t really even have to invent them. They bring themselves right out into the forefront.
How do you know that I don’t love what Christ loves? There is nothing wrong with my relationship with Christ. I am a sinner (unlike you, obviously). I do try to follow the teachings of Christ and I don’t forsake the gathering of believers. But the church you speak of is just a building. Now if you’re talking about “The Church”, it encompasses the whole body of believers of which Christ is the Head. I struggled here for a while because you came off really pious and that’s a real turn-off for other christians, now just imagine a non-believer hearing you. I’m “free to disregard the Bride of Christ”? That’s rich. Now if I was less grounded in my faith I might actually feel threatened by your comment, but I’m not. Like I said religion is man-made. You say it’s between God and I but then you say something is wrong with me? Make up your mind. FYI....you don’t have to go to church to gather together with other believers. But if you need a building to feel closer to God....that’s your bag. I open up the Bible to feel closer to God, and with what I read I try to apply that to my life and toward others. And I pray that others can come to know the God I love and understand the supreme sacrifice He gave because He loves us so much even though we are sinners.
Dobson lost my respect when he “forgived” serial scumbag Newt Gingrich, and then went and bashed Thompson.
Bravo! You wrote what I wanted to get across in my earlier messages. Thanks.
You are very welcome. God bless.
By their fruits ye shall know them. Dobson has just been calling like it is. The rest of y’all are just in denial.
Yes and now we know yours.
Dobson...Wasn’t he in guy in Jurassic Park stealing embryos? :)
